Glad to see that they still make that steam run up to Frontier Days. I rode it in the previus millennium.

Years ago I taught scuba diving and a private client wanted to go to Monterey, California for his ocean check out dives. I turns out that he owned a local trucking company and he had a box of photographic paper with him to deliver to Ansel Adams. After his afternoon dive we dressed and rode in his car to Mr. Adams' home who greeted us at the door and took delivery of the parcel.

Many years later in about 1987 I began photographing Fort Point on the north tip of San Francisco with a Hasselblad. I bought a Linhof Technikardan and immediately headed to the Fort to attempt some imagery unobtainable with a fixed axis lens. I spent over two hours setting up my first and only shot that day. A young, self-serious, man dressed in a National Park Ranger uniform came to me and stated that it was illegal to make commercial photographs in National Parks without a permit and demanded to view my permit. I told him that I did not have a permit but I knew where Ansel Adams lived and we could go and arrest him. The Ranger removed me from the park but I got one exposure.

the activity uses model(s), sets(s), or prop(s) that are not a part of the location's natural or cultural resources or administrative facilities; or
park would incur additional administrative costs to monitor the activity."

I took my circa 1941 C3 to France a few years ago.

YES! My 1951 vintage Zeiss Ikonta has the shutter release on the left.

After reviewing the other posts, I conclude that my previous post of the schoolhouse is not really the high contrast B&W that was meant for this thread. So, I repeat the B&W film (Kodak Tmax 100) taken with my 1951 Zeiss Medium Format.

Hello all. Here is a shot that I captured on a Canon PowerShot G6, IR modified using a 850nm filter. I did do some PP to darken the dark and lighten the light. The subject is an old school house in Fruita, UT. Given that I was using my IR, yes it was envisioned as a high contrast black and white.

I envisioned this in noir et blanc, because it was a high contrast monochrome scene in it's natural state. Additionally, my 1951 Zeiss Ikonta was loaded with Kodak TMAX 100 (film). I shot it hand-held at 1/25 (attempting to accentuate the water movement) but I have lost my notes as to aperture.

That is an excellent kit. Don't break it up. If you don't get any response here, try the film forum at http://www.apug.org

Thanks for the education SS. I had to masticate on that for awhile, but now I understand the value of the multiple focus points. Turn the camera after setting the focus and the focal plane changes resulting in OOF for the intended subjects. This is most prevalent in wide aperture, narrow DOF conditions. Those of us who carried over from film had no choice but focus and re-compose in film and I never learned the value of multi-focus selection in the digital world until this discussion. Thanks again.

I wanted BIF, but it seems the locals were grounded today for some reason, although I did manage to flush one. I was racked out on my 75-300 lens, shutter preferred at 1/1000 was my thinking for hand held at this long focal point and 200 ISO sensor speed (yeh, they're dark). I was using continuous auto-focus (center spot) and 10 FPS burst mode (couldn't afford to do that with film). So, basically, I didn't do anything but walk about and point and depress the shutter button. The results were out of the camera JPG, post consisted only of cropping. So, how did my camera do? What kind of suggestions (besides wait for better light or select a higher ISO) do you have for me to get better images.

What kind of chemicals do you use for the C41 and RA4 process? Back when I still have my darkroom B&H refused to ship the RA-4 chemical to me due to some DOT regulations.

I don't do my own developing, I send film to "thedarkroom", they do the hard work.
