[quote=CaptainC]Because 50 years from now, the prints will be here and all those ones and zeros will - in all likelihood - be on unreadable media. I fear there will be a lost generation of images.
Thank you CaptainC for putting this statement in a conversation. I just had this exact conversation with a 25 year old last week. I don't believe He got it when we finished.

We then hear more and more about foreign troops being trained to handle civil unrest in this country.

Holy crap. Are you serious? First of all, who is "we", because I never heard this utter nonsense. Foreign troops in this country?

You have heard of these troops. The problem is they have been in standby mode since I was in the Marines. They are called U.N. forces and NATO.
They are here and if you do some homework you will find a very large $$ amount has been spent on military bases that were closed for budget reasons over the last 20+ years.
They have to keep the people somewhere don't they.

So here is my guestion is this a old out of date ideal, did my mentor just tell me wrong, or does this hold true, or does it just hold true to a point?

Started in 1978.
I think you were told correctly by your mentor.
Today My site Bio says I shoot both styles.
I see nothing wrong with capturing a moment and enjoying the sub par results or spending extra time in pp.
I also understand some times you have to hump the gear if you want to pay the bills.

Well I am still looking at cameras and a friend of a friend offered me his unused Nikon D80 with 28-80mm and 70-300mm for a very good price--any thoughts on this camera?

I own 2 Nikon D80's for years now. Both are work horses for me. The lens selection should also work well for you.

This Spring one of my Photo projects was to create a new series using the Bird Feeder as the main setting. Last year I had the same problem until I opened one of my Xmas presents. My lady gave me a 75' shutter remote. Solved most of the problems for me. Now I'm battling the slow shutter speed issue. Just how fast can they flap them wings.

I just made the jump from pc to an IMac. When I try to email photos, they are embedded into the body of the mail as an image. Does anyone know how to email a photo as a file attachment with an Apple?

Right mice click on the pict and select icon.
If for some reason you do not have that kind of mice.
Hold down the control key and then click the mouse.
Also try this with the option key you should see additional features.

Jerry,

Don't know why but I love the OOB stuff. Thanks

Sarge

Gentleman, I just spent the last 5 months working on this gallery
Of 132 OOB photographs.
I was reading a message about them one day and simply got hooked also.
Any application that has layers will do the job.

Thank you.
That was outstanding.
Because of all of the old Western films that were shot there,
That place has been on my Radar for over 50 years.

I have been asked to do a little girl's head shots this weekend. Any advice?

I'm not sure how to pose the little girl without it looking to "adult". I want to keep it age appropriate and very innocent.

Any advice you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Keep the parents standing directly behind you, otherwise the child's eyes will be watching them.
