Good question -the filter is bent on the outer edge-there is an indentation of approx 1/16 of an inch, so I do not believe the threads are impacted.

Hi all, need some advice. My friend has a Xume magnetic filter stuck on her Canon 24-105 lens. She dinged the filter, it is dented and will not turn. I ordered a filter wrench from B&H and it does not budge it. Am wondering what my options are. I am living near Daytona , FL for a few months and and not aware of any camera stores where I could take it and have it fixed. May have to send it to Canon as a last resort. Do any of you hoggers have a secret solution? Many thanks!

I have a supply of 35mm slides and 35mm and 2 1/4 negatives which I would like to scan. I have been doing some research on UHH and need some input from members here. The Epson V600 seems very reasonably priced but I am wondering what members experience has been with both the V600 and the pricier V800. Is the V800 really that much better than the V600? Also I have upgraded to Catalina on my mac and I ran across a comment that these scanners are not compatible with Catalina. Obviously the V600 is appealing due to its price-just wondering if it will be the one I should buy. Thanks in advance for your help.

I upgraded to the new Mac operating system Catalina today. Took about one hour. I have noticed one glitch so far. I use bridge to import my images. Usually I can use the touch bar to increase the image size to full screen. Not anymore. When I push the touch bar the screen becomes a jumble of lines and colors. So I called Adobe and spoke with a CSR who told me he could not even share my screen to troubleshoot because Catalina has a glitch that prevents it. He said that Adobe and Apple were aware of the problems and were working on them. This is a cautionary tale for Mac users. Wait to upgrade to Catalina until some time has passed and the kinks are worked out.

I recently changed from Sony to go back to Fuji. I checked prices on eBay and B&H as well. I ended up using Cameta Camera to sell my Sony gear and received quick and reasonable quotes and checks were sent promptly. I am sure B&H and Adorama would be excellent as well.

Has anyone sold their used film gear to one of the big stores like B&H or Adorama?

I have used both for the purchase of new gear since 1977 without any problems or disappointments.

About the only use I have for my medium format gear is a history lesson in class. So I've decided to try and sell it. Would it be worthwhile to send it to B&H or Adorama?

Have been there twice in the past few years. Don't take the tour, use the self guided tapes and earphones, much better on your own to explore and at your own pace. Forget the tripod as it will be a nuisance. Photo ops are innumerable and you're only a block and a half away from the Phil. Museum of Art, the one in which Rocky Balboa climbed the steps in the movie. Much to see and do just walking the streets. Enjoy.

Good thoughts but without a tripod many shots would be lost-I took my tripod on each of my three visits and will take it again when I return. Many low light situations require a tripod.

Has anyone photographed this place? Any tips?
Planning on doing it April12th.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin, I have been there three times, it's a great place. It's been a museum since the 90's but the architecture is wonderful-they could not afford to build anything like this today. It shows the effects of being abandoned for 20 years but it has real beauty. Tripods are a must in that many areas are dimly lit. I did a 360 pano of the area where the cell blocks radiate from a central hub. When it was built it was designed to give each prisoner a chance to "repent", each cell had a skylight which was intended to put the inmate in touch with God. To me it is fascinating. I have a gallery for ESP on my website which may be of interest to you. tom-singleton.artistwebsites.com
