The Hurricane Matthew may not be as bad as suspected. Damage is recorded as moderate thus far for a hurricane. And no extension of lives lost. Flooding, rain, and loss of power will be the most agonizing. Source: CNN news.

Some wedding photographers have a 3 plan deal. Super Deluxe, Deluxe, and Regular. Each priced differently. People who get married sometimes are on a budget too. A professional wedding photographer is the way to do it. Rather than let amateurs like myself do it. I did it once. Never again. The photos I took were decent, and I did it as a wedding gift for a friend. Better to buy the gift.

Here's mine, and I think that it checks most boxes. Sony A57 16MP, Sony 18-135 SAM, Sony 70-300 APO G. I also have a Minolta 50mm Macro which I mainly use to copy old slides and is seldom used.

Here would be my best minimal list. A Nikon a3300, 24 megapixels, an 18-300mm zoom lens, and a 35mm or 50mm prime lens. Cheap is not always a bad choice. It's how you use your equipment. But a D3300 is not a D7200 either.

The a57 is no longer produced, superseded by the a58 and a68. The rest is medium range gear. Now if you said an a77ii, with a 24-70mm Sony lens, a Sony 70-200mm lens, then I would be impressed.

Yep. You just can't go wrong owning a quality 24-70mm Nikon lens. Nothing but praise for that lens. The Canon 24-70mm is excellent too. I've been wishing for a Nikon 24-70mm for several months. Price is out of my budget. I'm looking at the Tamron version for about $1300 from B&H. Less expensive than the Nikon. Pro Photographer Matt Granger says the Nikon 24-70mm is untouchable for sharpness. I've read good reviews too on the Tokina 24-70mm. It may be in your $1000 budget range?

Those are two very popular lenses. One Tamron and the other a Canon Brand. I borrowed a Tamron 90mm prime macro for one day. It was very good. Since you own already a very good Canon camera, T6i, I would prefer to have the 18-135mm with the Canon body for macro. Your best option for macro is a prime lens with a 1:1 magnification between 90mm-180mm. IMO. Good luck on your choice.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats to 56 years of marriage. My uncle celebrated his 55th anniversary last month.

Does a Canon T1i/EFs18-55 count I was accidently tripped and went off, up and out six feet and landed on my chest with camera between. People stepped over me for the longest time. A buddy has the camera and is still taking great photos.

I'm glad your camera survived. Most don't. Most are damaged needing expensive repairs. Like full frame cameras on this forum. $$$$.

Another careless accident. Funny that you never hear about accidents from photographers who own a Nikon D3300 and a cheap 18-55mm lens on this forum?

I give credit to Governor Scott of Florida to alert the citizens of this upcoming hurricane. He has put the National Guard on Alert. Having been in a hurricane myself, it is not fun. Saving lives is priority #1. Electrical power deprivation can be tolerated for a week or more. As I experienced.
