The shutter release is very touchy on the 750. I thought the same thing when I got mine, every once and a while it would double. I paid attention and realized that the button was re-setting very quickly, and if my finger was still on the button it would release again. In my case it was due to my technique and once I modified my technique the problem is no longer. I like the feel of the action in the shutter release, it is very precise.

I had the same problem, solution and outcome as Tom with my new D5300.

I like mine but don't tell the other guys.
It works well upto a point in lower light then it also looses it in low low light like after sunset.
I use mine most when AF won't focus on the subject I want or when I have a Teleconverter on.

Can northern lights be posted in this section? (Probably a dumb question!)

I would say yes. Let's hear from the Moderator of the group!!!

Hi Craig...we are going back to this location. I like the silhouette but we want to do one with the shore line and trees with a little light painted on them.
This location will be good for northern lights too.

Awesome you not only have Lakes you have the Northern Lights.
In So Calif all our lake have dried up and the only northern light we have is the Skyglow from LA
Please keep posting here we like your stuff.

I want to do a "vortex" one.
Do you want the Trails to spiral into a single point?

Thanks Craig...they are fun but hard to find a great foreground around here.

I find almost any Foreground will work because the Stars are so dominate and the foreground just adds a little perspective to the shot.
And I keep it to just a Dark Silhouette. That's just my thoughts.
Kudos to your great looking Foreground though.

It's easier to maintain your focus point by setting it manually, then compose your shot.

I too find it easiest to use Manual Setting & Spot Focus on one eye in Portraits.

Really nice shot Marsha. I've never done any Star Trails, on purpose anyway.
Good luck and welcome to the Astronomical Photography Forum.

Nice photo, what did you use for the solar filter?

Thank you hpucker99
I used a 9"x11" Solar Film I got off the internet, an 1 1/2"x12"x12" styrofoam and a thick piece of cardboard and lots of tape.
Albuqshutterbug describes it better than I do in another post I did.

Thank you Astroturf, I was shooting every 2 1/2 min thru the whole thing. I can't wait to see how well Albuqshutterbug does on 'Flicker' with his Airplane shot.

There is an eclipse group for today on Flickr that I dropped this into. We'll see how well it does.
Thanks for the thumbs up.
I hope you did well with yours as well.

I could not get a good focus I wonder if its the little bit of collimation I'm off or the inexpensive film I used?

This is the shot I almost missed out on.
I was checking my center and saw the airplane enter the shot. Gaped and grabbed the remote and fired.
Only able to get one shot off before the plane cleared the scene.
I might just send this to the local news.

This is absolutely incredible
I'll bet you are the only one on the planet that has this shot!!!
Great job on the eclipse too.
