You guys are the greatest. Thanks so much for your input. I have a free web site now but need to get out there. Im going to do this my self and with all your help already im not going down without a fight so thanks again to all

I don't know how it works but there are ways to get your website to come up on google searches when various key words are searched. It unfortunately costs, at least as I understand it. I would talk to a web marketing guru and see what they can help you with.

Image quality "fine."

Image size "large."

Shoot in RAW if you're going to post-edit your photos.

If not, or very minor changes, use JPEG.

I'm glad I could offer some help. I'm a newbie too and I've learned a lot from reading and asking questions on this forum.

Someone suggested to me to buy the Magic Lantern Guide book for my camera and I did. It is a huge help....and it is the reason I was able to answer the question as I was just reading that a few days ago.
:-)

I just want to "ditto" the recommendation for the Magic Lantern Guide book. I have one for my Canon T2i and it is awesome at explaining my camera in terms I can understand as well as learning a lot about photography in general.

Don't know were to sell my pictures or even if there's a market for them. Heres one just to give you an idea of what i do. I really enjoy making them but have'nt had any luck on finding a sit that will sell them.

That is pretty cool!! I would look at Etsy.com. I'm not sure how it works or how successful it would be but I have heard it is the place for arts and crafts to sell. I've heard a few stories of high success too but nothing I could validate.

RowdyBlue - If you ever find the answer to that please let me know. I had a white tail deer pick me out at about 70 yards when he heard the shutter noise. Prior to that he seemed to have no clue I was there.

Hi PuppyDoc! I don't think there's a way to turn off the shutter noise on the T2i. I'm a avid deer hunter of about 20 years. I went hunting 11/19/11 and killed an 8 point. He has a 12 1/2 spread and weighed 156.7 lbs. I took my Fuji Film SD2000 with him because it doesn't make a sound. There were two 8 point bucks together and I took the one with the wider spread. They were almost identical. After I shot the one, the other one kept hanging around. He would walk around as though he had lost his best buddy. He would act as if he was leaving and then he would come back to check on the one I shot. I took pics of him. So, I shot one with my 243 and one with my Fuji, LOL! It was an exciting day!

I am so jealous!! I too am an avid hunter and forfeited my hunting this year to deploy to Iraq... I get back to the states soon and hope to get in some late season archery hunting in Wisconsin... might be a bit chilly but at least I might get to do some huntng...

Macro wants a tripod and a dedicated Macro lens--- on that will focus well and blur the bg-- Cannon 100mm, the nikon 105mm and the tamron 90mm will all do the job. Youprobably can skip the vr is whatever as you will be using a tripod and should turn it off---

i use a Tanron 180mm--will post one of my macro images made with----
I think the sigma 150mm will work nicely, never tried it.

Cool picture!! One thing I don't think I will be doing macros on is spiders... or snakes for that matter... although I think they would be cool... ummm... yeah if you really want to see my girlie side... err... I mean the unmanly side of me come out, just get a spider or snake close to me and look out...

I used a Nikon Macro lens, Canon 500D close-up filter/lens, and extension tubes with my 70-200 mm lens. I like using the extension tubes the best, because it provides the most flexible working distance from subjects. I also use a ring flash to freeze any movement in my subject and I'm also able stop lens down to f-22 to get the best DOF. [quote=dfalk]Some depends on what you want to do.

If you want to really get in close for larger than life shots you'll need something like the Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens. This lens will shoot at up to 5:1 and has no focusing capability -- you have to physically move the camera to focus the image.

The Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro lens shoots at up to 1:1 and comes in two versions with one having IS. The Canon 100 has very good optics and shoots nice, sharp images. Here's a sample of an image from the non IS Canon 100:

Simply incredible!! This is the kind of stuff I want to do!! Just random and so cool!!

P.S. I recently learned that there is a macro filter out there that you can put on any lens to achieve the same results. Got this info from a video on Adorama. Check out B&H Photo . That is a wonderful, reliable company. They will tell you everything you need to know.

Real familiar with B&H for shopping/pricing but didn't know they would give such advice as well. Thanks!!

I really like the idea of macrophotography and would like to buy a lens that would facilitate this. I have a Canon T2i and so far only have the two kit lenses that came with it (18-55 and 55-250 both IS). What would be the recommendation for equipment to start taking decent macro photos? I've played a little with the 18-55 but seem to lose a lot of sharpness on enlargement of the photos. I am just starting out with macros so I haven't played a lot yet. Next question - I also want to get "fish-eye" effect photos. I seem to recall seeing photos years ago done with a wide angle lense that had a fish-eye look. Is it better to buy a fish-eye lens for this or will some of the "regular" wide angle lenses work? What lens would you recommend?

I could be mistaken... I thought I had seen something about 2% for nonmembers as I was entering my membership number. Even at 15% - still tons cheaper than the $99 regular price or $50 price and $40 travel expense.... Total price would end up at about $57.50 plus applicable sales tax.

Thanks for the heads up. If only the nearest Costco, didn't require $40 or more in gas

If you have Costco membership, you can mail order it off the internet - they have free shipping too. If no membership, I think you pay a 2% surcharge - $1.00 - still a bargain. I just ordered mine.

I am an avid Elements user (and teacher). It's the best thing for the money. Version 10 was recently released. I know Costco has been having big sales on it ($69 or $79 - reg. price $99).

By the way -- you cannot save a RAW file in any program. That is a shooting format, not a saving format. If you use Elements, you should first save as a PSD (Photoshop) file format to preserve your layers that you create. THEN "save as" again as a jpeg to e-mail or have prints made. (NEVER save over your original file.)

I just mail ordered PS Elements 10 from Costco - free shipping - for $79.99. Then they took off a $30 rebate so I am getting it for $49.99... A lot cheaper than best buy or anywhere else I could find.

I have both and it's a fantastic combination.
Remember too, a 1.4 extender can be used quite nicely on that lens.

Also consider your potential needs for a regular 'all around' type of lens such as Canon's 24-105 f4

What would the 1.4 extender do for me? I have a T2i with just the kit lenses and I am just learning all the features and uses... as a beginner, I have tons of questions and really love this website!! It has been really helpful... I'm already looking at what I want for my next lense... I do a lot of scenary and wildlife photography.
