I fell last week and broke my upper left arm. it has been quite painful. I can't type. I can still look at all your beautiful pictures.

Is there no digest today? Has anyone heard from Regis? I've been missing his eagle portraits.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

Remember what you did. AND don't do it again!

Heal quickly and correctly. PS., do not use Arm to hold up the sock when you are emptying it. Put on your best puppy eyes (make them say 'awe, poor baby!"). Best and careful holidays!.

There is something called "Police procedure". It has been around for well over a century or so in the USA. One of the conditions for an arresting officer to do his job is that he has to be the witness to the crime being committed. The question then becomes as to which moment an event becomes a crime. It is not an easy decision to make.

There are several ramifications that pop up with this question. And it takes a couple of college semesters even to understand what is proper to do.

Yes, the old days - but on TV. English TV has many good mystery myseries.

One thing about some of these old movies - they are very dark. I mean in terms of lighting, not the mood. I think that's because they're old and not restored.

I looked on Amazon for complete sets of them, but there's nothing good available.

Many of the "recovered" films are composites, in a sense, of what could have been grabbed from all sorts of sources. The major problem is that many of the films made were never intended to be reused. The idea was that there were many new sources expected back when. Add to this is the great loss when the warehouse fires holding a lot of the originals got destroyed. E.g.: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/forty-years-ago-126-million-feet-history-went-smoke-180970977/

I have read where many Laurel and Hardy silent flicks were found being viewed on the big screen in Nepal as late as the 1970s. These were some of the films that were brought back and reworked.

Or you would end up confessing to everything they accuse you of. (A la Iron Maiden.)

I was so lucky to be born at a time when I was more or less safe from the scourge of polio. My wife had a card stating that she was a Polio Pioneer, one of the first to get the shot. I assume that I got the shot, too, but I have no recollection of it. I was watching a 1940s movie a couple of days ago, and a little boy had one of those metal braces on his leg, indicating that he had polio. I'm guessing that they added that for authenticity, but maybe that little actor did have polio.

Reading the article below, that was for a Field Trial. Can you imagine the uproar today if someone wanted to give a trial vaccine against polio? There's already a movement to end the requirement for the measles vaccine.

Sample card below. Notice that it was from the "Cheyenne Mountain School." That was long before the military installation.

I turned my seventh year in existence by getting ALL of my shots in preparation for emigration to the USA. And that was seven decades ago. I still have a couple of bumps in my arm to show where the needles poked into me.

I have visited Warm Springs, Ga FDR Polio Hospital, viewing the Iron Lungs. Being stuck in those things left me with images that even give me the chills now.

We see here some images of lasses catching their frisbees. The B&W versions of most of these have been prevously posted, along with a few colorized.

A phrase popular with the judges of Dancing With the Star love to say just about every instance when they are speaking is "body extensions". I think it can be applied to these studies.

I find photographs of the naked body in motion to be artistically fascinating, regardless of gender of the model.

Great (re-)works.
