Also, sometimes after I export a photo, LR shuts down and I have to restart it to do another photo. What causes that?

Ad the bottom of the settings area for each export preset, there is a "Post-Processing" section with a selection for what to do After Export. It might be worth a look.

It's has been a mess for me. It won't even open at this point. In the short time I had it running, it showed some promise feature wise. Most of the problems seem to be on the Windows platform, which has been the case with all of their applications.

The good news is that when I returned to my computer, the catalog had actually been built. I don't know how long it took, but I was away for a few hours. I played with it a bit, and, watched the walk through video, and I believe it has promise. After messing about with a few photos, the thumbnail for the photo I was editing started going blank. Then it wouldn't load another photo, and finally, it locked up. I tried killing it in the Windows task manager and reloading it, but it just came up blank, so I dropped it for the night. This morning, I loaded it, same thing, blank. I noticed that again, it was using a little bit of CPU and let it go. After about 15-20 minutes, thumbnails started appearing on the screen, but it never "caught up" to a point that I could navigate the catalog before locking up again (menus unresponsive, no cpu usage). I wonder if I created smaller catalogs, perhaps one per year, if it would become more responsive, but can't get it to stay alive long enough to try it. I DO hope they get it working. I would like to use it alongside Lightroom, though I don't see it ever replacing that tool.

I opened it up again about 25 minutes ago, and am going to let it do it's thing for awhile without trying to interact with it. Maybe it'll catch up to whatever it's trying to do if I leave it alone!

So I got the window back by unplugging my 2nd monitor and clicked through the screens to "creating image gallery". That was 45 minutes ago, and I'm still at 0%. It's using some processor and disk resources, so I'll let it run a while longer to see what happens. I sure hope it's not building some sort of gigantic catalog on my boot/application drive....

I just downloaded and installed it. The welcome screen popped up off the top left corner of my 2nd display...I can only see the corner of the window, and of course, can't move it. So much for first impressions!

One image, was something I did not long ago. I placed a small vase on the back porch step with some fall flowers. As the sun rounded the house and shine down into the steps, I took the picture. Then login to the walmart photo site and had this photo transferred to canvas. 1 week later the canvas print was ready.

I set the canvas print on my easel and starting painting with a limited color pallet. One month later, I finished my "Flowers of Fall" impressionistic oil painting based on a blurry photograph.

I LOVE this!. Thank you for sharing. My mother is 86, recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, failing vision and problems using her hands since a minor stroke. She has expressed an interest in getting back to painting. This may work..... Thank you again!

I finally got through all of the shots...here's a few more from the collection. The first shot is a friend I was making in the parking lot. The person that was holding the camera for me decided to snap a couple off. The second is a cell phone shot that I tried to save for someone. It's beyond help, but it's a photo that shows Susie, the dog I mentioned in the back story as having been set on fire. This is the only shot I have with her "coat" off, where you can see she has no ears, and the patch of skin lost on her back. Amazing that she still loves humans after what she went through.

One of the new friends I made that evening

Very interesting markings

Definite internet meme potential I think

If I knew the answers to those questions, I wouldn't have asked. I've been in the software business for about thirty years now. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a competing product do something to attempt to "own" the environment when installed. I don't know that Lightroom or Luminar would do that. I would hope not, can't think of any reason either would, but thought it prudent to ask before diving in and creating a potential mess.

I'm interested in trying this when it comes out. Is there any sense that it will conflict with LR's catalog in any way?

They were my "Go To" place when I lived in Miami. They have an online presence as well as their brick and mortar store, and will sell what's in the store at their internet pricing levels.

I forgot to mention...the little guy with the green scarf, a bit tough to get a photo of as he kept trying to come over to give me licks as soon as I sat on the ground, was actually adopted that evening, by a guest at the hotel the event was held at. They spotted him as he was being walked around the lobby, fell in love with him and adopted him on the spot. Another happy ending.

If Elements isn't in CC, I'm not keen to purchase another package from them. If I purchase something, I'll probably move toward Vegas. I'll search around for some simple premier pro workflows.

I volunteered to take photos of pets up for adoption at a fundraiser for the organization. The light was challenging, the camera wanted to focus on the crate wires rather than the animals, getting animals to "sit still" in an environment full of unfamiliar stimulus and other new learning opportunities presented themselves. In short, I had a blast, and would gladly accept any advice from folks more skilled and experienced with shooting in these conditions.

The last photo in this series is of a dog name Susie, and her Mom. Their back-story is pretty incredible. Mom was mauled by a Pit Bull, and nearly killed. Susie was physically abused by her owner and then set on fire. Notice she doesn't have ears. She also has a number of bald patches from the 3rd degree burns she suffered. Mom, deathly afraid of dogs and Susie, deathly afraid of people, found and "fixed" each other.

My interest in working with video has grown to the point that I want to establish the right workflow for what I do. I'm not shooting feature films here, but have some instructional and product videos in mind for YouTube consumption. My camera is an 80D which seems to very well. I don't have interest in 4k at this time as I don't think I would benefit from it much with this type of video.

One thing that has kept me away from video is the workflow of getting it from the card, processed, sound leveled and exported. I've done it in Premier Pro, but there is a lot of functionality there that I don't need and frankly don't want to spend the time mastering. Premier Rush just appeared in my CC "dashboard", which leads me to this question. There is now Premier Pro, Premier Rush, Prelude and After Effects that seem to all be part of the Adobe video workflow. I know Google is my friend, and have tried to find a somewhat concise answer to the question: What would comprise a fairly easy workflow using these tools to catalog (thinking Lightroom here), tweak (cutting room) and encode for YouTube and/or Facebook?

I have in the past worked with Vegas, and liked it, but don't want to make another purchase with all of the tools I already have in the bag.

Thanks in advance,
-Ed G.
