Wasteful advice. Camera manufacturers like that!

Guess that would depend on who is buying the camera. Like me my Daughter got the shutterbug, but she wasn't sure how far she would take her passion. I bought her a "Costco Kit" and she thanks me all the time. I bought it for her two Christmas's ago and she is still happy and not looking to upgrade.

Just another perspective.

Funny how we got a question about refurbished cameras to conspiracies about camera clicks. Again if you buy a camera from Canon, your are covered for the first year, should be no problem. Canon is not in the business of selling you a junk cameras and the comments prove it.

I travel through out the world, I have a Tamrac Expedition 7X Backpack camera bag. Easily carries my equipment and a laptop. Always my second carry on. Though the flight attendance have argued, it has fit on every plane I've been on. It's funny how they have to weigh my carry on luggage, but never ask about my "backpack". Sometimes I have to unzip the bag and open it up to slide it into the small overheads. but it's worked all the time. Check that, when I fly out of Anchorage to a Village, I have to give it up, only due to the CG on smaller planes. No worries, I watch them load it on to the plane and I know the owner. Oh I do have insurance too. Just in case.

As long as you are buying from Canon, no problem.

Yeah I tried that once, someone else idea. I passed their "test". Sent in my photo's and I was crucified. I just told them what they could do with their "test". From what I understand is a hard business to get into. I enjoy taking pictures and sharing them. I don't need the pressure to produce a "quality picture" what ever that is. Photography can be so subjective or just fun. Maybe both, your choice. If I want to be crucified, I'll just post a picture on UHH.......Just kidding, REALLY, Just kidding.

Welcome, you are right everyone has their likes and dislikes, I won't add to that. Unless you are Bill Gates, I'm not, I started with Canon and still have them, lens cost can start adding up. Would love to try Nikon or Sony ect, but again the $$ begin to add up.

Agreed. Alas, there are always some in every forum who insist on misleading and misinterpreting and disrespecting others.

I think that explains the "Ugly" in UHH.

Funny I was thinking the same thing. Humans will be humans, I expected that. I still learn what I had already knew and what I didn't know from different perspectives. Thank you.

Been a member for a few months. Great site and I've learned a lot. What I didn't and still don't like is people who think their way is the best way. We are all different, people and skill level. Your way might not work for others. Answers are great, but when people start arguing about what technique is best, I want to give up coming here. Sometime there are 30 plus pages of answers and a lot of them are disagreements on what is best. Again we are all different and have different skill levels. Just answer the question with your techniques and let us decide what is best for us. Otherwise I am very pleased with UHH.

It all come down to take what you learn from UHH, we are all not such great photographers, well at least not me. 12 pages of opinions and 12 pages to learn from. In the end take the picture where you want and how you want based on what you have learned or not from UHH. The final answer is how you feel about your finished product, whether it was taken JPEG or RAW. Any picture captures time that you never get a chance to shoot again.

Wow, 11 pages of advice, goodonya all. When all is said and done, just do whatever it takes to get the picture you want, the way you want and how you want.

I ASKED A QUESTION, BUT NO ANSWER......

I was just referring to your apology for asking the question. This is a good place to get your question answered. I didn't really have an answer to give you.

One question, 100 answers. I shoot raw, lot more latitude in post editing. My camera has a choice to shoot both jpeg and raw, if you can, shoot both and see which one you like the best. Jpeg for social media, well I'll leave that up to my cell phone. Now if only I can figure out how to shoot with my cell phone?

Not an expert and I don't remember my settings, I think f16 iso 100 and shtter speed was 1/2000 or 1/4000. I also used double polarized filters. My eclipse came out OK, again don't quote me on the settings, maybe there is an expert out there who knows better. Practice on the sun before the eclipse. As I'm always told BRACKET, BRACKET, BRACKET!
