The noise caught my attention first. It was the crows, doing what they do best, crowing. I was in a vacant field where some raptors have been hanging out hoping for some photo opportunities. When I heard the crows, I saw a few of them harassing a red tailed hawk and they were headed my way. The crows eventually gave up the chase as the hawk moved out of their area of concern, so to speak. Best viewed on download. Thanks for viewing.

Sat on the post for a bit; went long across the meadow; came back and settled in among the leaves, not out on an open limb--would not have been able to see it if I'd not seen it land, even then it took a second look to pick it out.

Nice shots. Really like the one staring right at you.

I believe these are Army Reservists practicing parachute drops from a Chinook helicopter. They landed at a nearby training base. Some shots were from my front porch. Nikon D500 80-400. Best viewed on download. Thanks for viewing.

Which show did you like better, the angels or the thunder birds?

I did not attend the actual airshow. The Blue Angels, Thunderbirds and other military aircraft were using a nearby military base to park their aircraft and house their support team. The base is about 10 miles from where the airshow took place. My photographs (from an adjacent soccer field) were of the jets as they took off, landed and at times flew over my house. Both the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds circled the base upon returning from the airshow and I thought the Thunderbirds were a little more active upon their return. A few years back, I did attend the airshow and thought the Blue Angels put on a slightly better show. Thanks for viewing.

Oh, WOW! What an excellent set. I live in the valley and did not know there was an air show at Huntington Beach.

I too was not aware of this airshow until 3 Blue Angeles flew directly over my house, rattling the windows. I knew something was up, and checked and sure enough, an airshow was scheduled for the weekend. I didn't see any advertisement for this event (maybe I should read the local rag more closely)....thanks for your kind comments.

Where were you shooting from? I went down Sunday, paid for a good parking spot, walked down next to Duke's to claim a spot...and was informed by a CNN guy that it was canceled. Total bummer...

Man, that is tough luck. This oil spill is the perfect example of “Murphy’s Law.” I live very close to a soccer field that is adjacent to the Joint Training base (Los Alamitos). The Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, and other military aircraft park here for the air show. All day continual coming and going. Soccer field off of Lampson and Rose. Thanks for commenting.

Wow! Great set. Some look like you were up there flying next to them! What did you use to shoot them?

Thanks for your kind words KindaSpikey. I was using a Nikon D500 w/80-400 Nikon lens, hand-held.
