Maybe have prints laminated then wrap around a white shade for backlighting. You would want the paper used for printing to be logo-free on the back.

Not exactly…I'm talking about a type of very tough transparency
with a milky white backing that is designed for backlit displays. The lamp shade would become a full color transparency...

The simple fact remains, you can not view any digital photo until it has been processed. The difference lies in who does the processing.

We are saying the same thing…you are precisely correct!!!

Thanks for everbody's responses. Think I got what I'm after.

There's legal, which I am. There is also courteous, and friendly explain what you are doing, which I did. If they still insist, quit shooting any little part of their property, which I would do anyway. If they continue to get nasty, walk away, which I also did. If they REALLY get confrontational, and you can't walk away, then you call the authorities, which would end up stunning them I sure.

Photos are only worth so much hassle. Plenty to shoot out there without a hassle.

A couple of years ago, I bought some old cameras on ebay with the intention of making them into a lamp. I finally got one finished. I wanted unusual cameras, so for this lamp I got an Argus C3, also known as the brick. This was the largest-selling 35mm camera for many years. Then I got a Zeiss Icon SLR, and finally a Russian TLR , special Olympics commemorative model.

I got a nice piece of oak, routed the edges, and drilled holes for 1/4" X 20 mounting bolts. I mounted the Russian TLR on a mini tripod, with holed drilled for the legs and JB Weld holding them in place.

I wanted something different for the lighting, so I put one or more little blue LEDs into each camera - shining out through the lenses. So, I have two plugs for this lamp - one for the LEDs and one for the main bulb. Both are plugged into the old computer control console I have on my desk. I can switch on the LEDs and main bulb independently.

The actual lamp in the rear is one I had around the house.

Before I make another lamp with the remaining old cameras, I want to see if I can make a more appropriate shade - something with photos on it.

Pictures are posted in the Photo Gallery.

my memory fails at the moment…old age…but the type of transparency used for large advertising displays…i.e. like in a department store…they are not "super expensive" to have made. I would think you could take one of or many of your photographs and actually make them into a lampshade…
Love the lamp...

Well Hogs…It's Sunday morning, I just opened my laptop…I see we are on page 51 of this asinine thread. Honestly, I can see learning taking place somewhere in this leaky sewer drain…but is it worth 51 pages?
I think the problem is professionals and advanced amateurs mixing it up with newbies and hobby shooters. Each, from their prospective, is correct.
The simple fact remains, you can not view a RAW file in the first place. Anything you perceive as a photographic image is a processed RAW file. So the argument itself is…sorry, I can't think of a word that won't offend someone.
As promised, I'm killing this thread. Perhaps someday I'll check back in just to see if there has been blood shed by the 250 page mark...

Why is 50 a magic number for you if you believe the tread has no substance?

It's a bit like watching a semi full of pigs headed for the Hormel plant…destined to become Spam. They are six cars in front of you. The cab breaks down on the RR crossing. The driver gets out and stands there watching as the freight train approaches at high speed. There is nothing you can say or do. There's going to be a lot of noise, pig shit, police activity and chaos in just a few seconds. Sure I'd stick around for the madness…but I'd be pulling a U-turn and going back to doing something useful…in just a minute or so. About the FIFTY PAGE MARK of this ridiculous thread...

As to first paragraph, I saw a post in a computer forum once, in a thread about WiFi security, wherein someone suggested naming your WiFi router "FBI Surveillance Van," to give pause to your neighbors...

As to your second paragraph, I recommend that you listen to an old Johnny Paycheck song, entitled "Colorado Kool-Aid."

several years back, a friend who works for the feds brought me a "Department Of Justice, Federal Bureau Of Prisons" ball cap…I suspect that might do the job…..

Hello Dave. (I don't often post, but I'm intrigued by this topic) Thanks for uploading these. I can't get anywhere near the image quality of your RAW edited file, but here's my attempt via PaintShop Pro from the in-camera RAW. I am convinced for the best quality that starting with the RAW file is better. The loss of detail in the highlights is evident as shown in the throat area even with some heavy handed unsharp masking. How close can you come from your Jpeg?

very nice image!!

Oh please don't type these long uninterrupted strings of digits in the future! They don't respond to the normal text wrap and completely mess up the formatting on the page. Now ALL of the remainder of this page will be stretched out across the page to the lentgh of your digits, requiring everyone to scroll horizontally to read the posts. Not a problem on a 27 inch screen I suppose, but a really pain in the tush on an iPad! It also reduces the size of the print to the point that it is nearly, no is, impossible to read.
