Hi Cliff. I'll try to get it done as soon as the weather clears this weekend.

I've seen a lot of members deliberating over whether to get one or the other of the above. Since I have both, I thought it might be helpful to set up a post with test pics from each to help in the decision.
What I was thinking was to make a pic of the same distant object at full optical zoom with the camera set to full auto, on a tripod, delayed shutter, with the stabilizer off and throw in the same pic using a Canon 6D and Sigma Big Sig (maybe with the 2x) for a dslr comparison.
Obviously the P900 will blow it away in the zoom category but the main thing is the IQ.
Please let me know if this with be beneficial and I'll try to get it done over the weekend.
Thanks,
Larry

I know you're right Warrior. I've had a Nikon bridge camera before (P510) and let a friend buy it from me because I was moving into the world of dslr. Soon found that I still needed a bridge and now have the SX50 which is a great camera but not as much as the P900 seems to be. Now... where can I get one in the next 2 months? Or will you be using yours?

Amazon is out of stock on the Nikon P900 and Nikon itself says the camera is on back order. I didn't try the Canon site (Lol). Good luck.

I'm afraid that you're right, it's not looking good. But thanks for your response.

try the Canon sx 50...shoots in raw...

Actually I have an SX50 which I love and keep with me all the time for those unexpected opportunities. However the image quality of the Nikon is just plain superior (and I hate to say that since I'm a Canon guy) and when you have grandkids as cute as mine, (see avatar) you want the best shots you can get.
Thanks for your response.

I am taking the family on a vacation mid-July (including 4 grandkids) and would love to be able to find a Nikon P900 prior to the trip to avoid having to carry my 6D and a pile of lenses. Most of the respectable stores I know are out of stock and, like B&H, show August as the likely restocking date. Does anyone have any suggested and trusted alternatives. Your tips would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to get 10 of 12 and I barely can use my smart phone.
It must be an ability to retain worthless info.

I like to use this set-up with the tripod only a few feet from the feeder. This lets me use a prime lens like a 100mm or 85mm. I've gotten some of my best image quality that way.

Wow!!! You just saved me a ton of money. Now all I need is your talent.
Thanks Regis

Yet another great shot. Could you post a similar close-up using your 6D? That's what I use and I'm thinking about getting the 7DII too... (so that I can drop another bundle on EF-S lenses as well). If I could see that it's remotely possible for me to get this quality with the 6D, maybe I could talk myself into settling for the Tam 150-600 only.
Thanks for all of the great pics.
