Today, I shot this Yellow Jacket at 8-9 feet at 600mm. It's a close-up photo and not a macro shot.

Canon 7D Mk2 - Tamron 150-600mm @ 600mm - 1/640 - f/10 - ISO @ 1000.

Thank you, Didereaux. The minimum close focus is 8-9 feet on the Tamron 150-600mm lens as you can see in this photo, but you still can get good detail.

Thank you, Cotondog. The photo that came out of the camera was almost the same. I tweaked it with a little contrast and sharpness and nothing more.

Thank you, Steve. Our area of north Idaho has many of these Yellow Jackets, but we have no poisonous snakes or spiders and almost no mosquitos to contend with, so I can put up with the yellow jackets.
Anyhow, the Tamron 150-600 is a remarkable lens.

Regis, it doesn't hurt that you have that lens on a great camera too! The more I see of this long range Tammy, the more I want one.

Thank you, Steve. From what I have read, the Canon 7D Mk2 produces more contrasted saturated colors with it's new sensor which interpolates truer color compared to other cameras. Every year, cameras become more sophisticated. So, the Tammy brings out the best in photo quality as well as other great lenses.
