What an awesome site already learned for a tutorial I found here. Have many pics I took but without regard to composure and the other necessary things that go with taking a great pic, but hope to learn .

This is just a small sample of what I like to do. I also like to photograph people's portraits outside of the studio settings. I love the real thing much better but it does bring in challenges at times.

I love going out and taking photos of other people's animals and pets, which can get tricky because many of them do not like to pose, go figure!

Brief on me: I am a mother of three wonderful kids and a terrific life partner, who supports my hair brained ideas! Bless him for that! I have a half a year to go and all my kids will be out of high school! They are pretty much into artsy things in their lives too. So, I will not pretend to know too much about my camera. I believe that often we get excited and try to get the one with the most buttons and gadgets and foul ourselves up in the complication. I find I have been really focusing on relearning to take photos lately. I believe I have the eye, I just need to learn my equipment!

Getting back into photography after long hiatus. Wanted new multipurpose camera so I got a new Canon SX40HS WITH 28-800+ ZOOM. Since that didn't confuse me enough, also got laptop with windows 7. Can anyone advise a photo program that is compatible with Windows 7?/

Welcome Vince...nice photos...really like the tree. I grew up in SC and spent many days at Myrtle Beach...no snow then...lol. Beautiful dog, too!

Anyone familiar with green screen? Here are samples of before and after. I have also discovered that you don't necessarily need a green screen to accomplish the final results as shown in the last photo.

Very good

What you can do with a shop light, camera equipment, and less than 20 bucks worth of equipment. Out of almost 400 photos taken within a two hour timeline, I think this is my favorite. the first shot is my setup, the second is the result. Please C&C.

Great results for all your work. Nice shots..lotsa patience, huh? :-)

Thanks for the tip. I have to admit I wanted to crop the pic more but the quality did not allow. Camera shake appears to be part of the problem and atmospheric haze another.
Here's a sandstone wall along the high way that has been eroded by rain. Almost see the faces in it. Has the texture of concretions which are a phenom that occurs in areas of San Diego and Imperial counties. They take the form of man made objects but are created by wind and water.

Nice shots...I really like the sandstone wall...great capture!

Took these photo several years ago. Hired a pro to go with me, and he gave me a red filter to use. I'm not sure I like the unnatural way it makes the canyon look. What you do think about au-natural vs. filter? Also, there is something that I can't put my finger on that is either missing or I have done wrong in my composition.....any thoughts?

By far...my favorite is without any "stinkin'" filter...great shot!

Fine with the image catz but that girlie sweet wine- yuk!
Would you have a nice oaky Chardonnay or a Chenin blanc to hand and I will be right over for a glass or two.

LOL, Cornishpete...have to agree with ya. I'd like a nice Pinot Noir right about now... oh, nice shots, Catz....

Two from last year

Very nice shots, Photopat. I am looking forward to the Christmas lights this year. Haven't used my star filter since the film days. They do indeed add a lot to Christmas lights!

These have been converted from color and seem to have problem with the whites in the sky and the dark spot in the upper left. No PS because I only have Picassa 3 so that's what I have to work with. Also the spots that get very white like the roofs on the buildings or at times the roads because where these were shot they use white shale rock for their dirt roads and drives. Please feel free to critique and give suggestions......

They look pretty good from my perspective....of course, Im not a pro...lol. Great shots!
