I got my golden pass 23 years ago. Best deal in the US. We stayed in West Yellowstone when we were there. Easy access to the park. I guess it would be better if you stayed right in Yellowstone. But you need to make reservations way ahead of time.
And its not cheap.

We have the Sr. pass also, the benefits of old age. (there are a few) We have our reservations already for the entire trip, West Y'stone wasn't so bad, others were very bad.

I have been very busy the past couple days but I want to say I really appreciate all the input and invaluable information you have all shared. We look forward to this trip, have been to South Utah parks but never to Yellowstone. Thanks again.

Hi, I was coming out in May but now I'm coming to Yellowstone the first week of Oct. I have lots planned for two weeks but I will arrive in West Yellowstone the 2nd and I think that may be a good base of operations. We want to see wildlife, waterfalls and the grand prismatic spring in particular. Plan on leaving there Thursday morning heading to Zion, and want to at least see Tetons, mountains reflecting in a lake would be good also. If anyone can give me a little direction that would be great. We are flying into Denver, my sis lives there and rates are much lower there. Thanks, Bud

Will be getting the Nikon D750 soon and going from Crop Sensor to Full Frame which means I will need to invest in a couple of new lens since most of mine are DX. Shoot landscape and general stuff. Current all around lens is 18-200mm DX. Cost is also a consideration - willing to purchase one lens at a time. Any and all recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I also recently got my 750, moving up from 7100. My first lens was a white box import 24-120, bought it quite a while back, great price but no warranty, I took that chance. I had bought the 50mm 1.8 long time ago for the 7100, I knew I'd need it for full frame some day. My next purchase was the 16-35 Nikon f4, "used" on Amazon but it was really new and a USA model, saved hundreda on it. Next up was the 28-300 Nikon, it rates better for sharpness then the 70-300 from what I read. I bit the bullet last week and got the 90mm macro VC 2.8 Tamron, an import deal ( I think) with a 7 year Mack warranty, if that means anything. Saved hundreds on it too. I am very happy with all these lens, all are very sharp and much better glass than I ever had on the 7100. Some will say not to take a chance on some of these items but I couldn't afford to buy all this glass paying retail, and have never really had issues. Look at the used option on Amazon listings, check facts, don't fall for obvious scams, and they are obvious. That's my story.---

I would suggest the 24-120 f4. Great all around lens to start with and not overly expensive.

I want to purchase a full frame Nikon and am trying to decide between the D750 and D810. I own and use a D300S for my wildlife photography, and am looking for a full frame for landscape photography. I would be using a 16-35mm Nikon lens (mostly). I also own and use the Nikon 200-400 which is also a FF lens. I've read reviews on both, and they both seem to be good cameras. Does anyone have advice on either of these cameras?

I recently bought the 750, also have 7100, I love it and the 16-35 is very good, great really. I love the 750, easy to carry, I don't like the 1/4000 max shutter but can work with it, esp. like the highlight metering function, very handy. The tilting screen is really a good feature for me.

OK, it's really great here, many photo ops, in the summer the falls may be dried up however. My website has lots of shots, many are very old and not very good, I am working on updating to my newer stuff but it takes so much time. my web is www.hockinghillsphotographer.com
a website for cabins and general info is www.hockinghills.com hope that helps. Only a couple nice motels here, mostly cabins that fill up quick. Bud

I see people from all over the world at the Hocking Hills, a tour company from New York sent a girl from Australia here on her coast to coast USA trip, Hocking Hills is listed on many sites as in the top 10 best USA. No brag, just fact.
