If you have the funds, drop down to 2.8 on the 24-70 lens. You wont regret it..

What kind of printer are you using?
In the menu select "Image quality". Pick the ones on the left. Or, read the manual.
I have a 6D. Used for stationary subjects mostly. Canon 24-70 F2.8"L" is an excellent choice with this camera.
Without "IS" you will want a tripod..
I believe your wife will see through all the aforementioned crap. Get out your flak jacket and man up to the issue..send us photos...
