Great capture. Sharp, good exposure. Really fun when you get those opportunities and get your shot.

As far as post processing, imo, too tight a crop and why the vignette?

Cropped tightly to eliminate distracting branches and the vignette to tone down the blown out sky. Thank you for your feedback. It is much appreciated!

I watched this hawk swoop down off of the branch and dive down to the ground across a small pond. It returned to the same branch about 15 feet from me with the mouse in it's beak. Thank you for looking and for your nice comments! Taken with Canon 7d mark ll and Canon 100-400 version 2 telephoto.

He is a monster all right. Nice job on the photo.
Judging by this shot and your avatar this isn't your first rodeo. :

Edit: retyped twice to say what I meant.

Thank you very much Bruce ! I have been shooting wildlife for about 6 years now ! A mild obsession for me !

This beast is the most incredible buck I have ever seen. His body is surging with testosterone for the rut! Look at that neck ! Thank you for looking and for your nice comments !

Windy day today in the Western New York area. I was just south of Buffalo on the lake shore hoping the high winds would produce some nice wave action. I was not disappointed ! Thank you for looking and for your nice comments !

Another thought if your trying to recover this particular photo. You should notice a reed red ring around the sun. This ring is the color of the sun just before the sensor saturates. Even though the sun is deep red, there is so much luminosity that it blows out the sensor in all color channels. You can recreate the color in PS by creating a fill layer and filling it with the color of the red ring. You can then brush the color back into the sun. I've done this on occasion and it's lent satisfactory results for me. Be careful not to cover anything in front of the sun such as a cloud, tree branches or a layer of haze.

Just a suggestion

What a beautiful image, Thomas! He posed so nicely for you! Where in PA was this taken? Poconos?

This was taken in Benezett PA. There is a large herd there established I believe in 1913.

my version, I deleted the deer in the back and I added a small ear to match the one to the left then darkened the whole thing and added vignetting.

Thank you very much for yet another beautiful version. Your time and talent are much appreciated.

Here is my edit for you. Used Lightroom. Increased clarity and contrast. Cloned all the limbs out and evened up the color in the antlers.

Thank you so much Jim ! I appreciate your time and your skill !!
