I have an universal lens on Nikon 7100. Not great, buy enough for me . Now I have found it does not focus fast enough or stops focusing. Store repair technician told me it is related to photographed area sharpness -> no. First it took the time longer than normal. Then it stopped focusing at wide setting - I had to zoom a little . After that I found the camera turn to vertical (portrait) does not focus. But the same "zoom" in horizontal (landscape) mode works .
I have cleaned contacts, but it did not help. Before I send it to repair (?) does anyone knows the reason/cure for the problem?

Thank you for the hint Miro

Does anybody have this item. It is very cheap and I wanted to use it as a side light in a slave mode .
After firing the on-camera flash, the Vivitar fired also. BUT the intensity was low , almost nothing.
I just can not figure out how to regulate it … except by the positioning at distance.
Of course I do not have a manual... dummy. Is it possible that the camera TTL is adjusting it? (Nikon 7100).
It has the control: Wide, tele & normal. Also distance/F-stop/ISO. But I do not see any difference in the flash intensity.
It should be simple and easy, but …. no good luck.
Thank you M

Oh yes. yes, I know that trick, but with the crazy girls I need to focus when I need shoot. I tried a rapid fire to help . well … somehow I get more pictures focused right … in the wrong time.

PS: I did not know that yongnuo ability...but it is a big & money heavy .. so the right lens is probably the solution. I bought that monster zoom as do it =everything . After a dropping camera while changing the lense -experience .

BUT AGAIN thank you all for the help. I got my answer. I appreciate your effort to help. Miro

Ok,OK - I have a flash (one with camera which I tame with that empty milk bottle) . I know it triggered your curiosity. I am not a photographer , so my camera bag is small and that bottle also creates a nice compartment for cleaning equipment - multi purpose) . Then I have a cheap Vivitar SF-4000 for the side "remote" shot . Tilts and sideways turn is by the tripodmount...OK. But now that bastard works as a slave , but somehow fires weak ...and I just can not figure the regulation of a beam strength.

BUT my post question was the focusing at dark (garage) . And I got the answer -> Nikon 7100 is fine, my Tamton lens 16-300 is a weak element. I am OK Miro

I have read your advice. You may feel how funny your response sounds. Have you read my original question?

I would like to thank again to you all.
I am not a very serious photographer. And so ...after a few months I have to re-learn a few tricks . I originally thought , using BBF @ remote trigger will be the best. In that dark setting I just put the empty milk bottle to diffuse my camera flash and it was OK....( for me). It was my first assignment with small children … my own brats.

Thanks Miro

OK, thank you all for the input.
I had a tripod and focused to relatively contrast area...buy it was DARK. So I had to find better spot. BBF is fine , if you have time and the same distance . But , with children 3y old, I miss many good shots. Otherwise, once it grabs the focus, the pictures are sharp (enough).

Basically, I have concluded from your comments, that camera is OK and lens also ….no technical problem. I just need a good lens - fast prime. For the "portraits" and indoor children probably 80mm.

Any suggestion what would be decent lens for the Nik 7100? I do not want to overChristmas my pocket.

Thanks Miro

I have a Nikon 7100 with a Tamron 16-300 lens. When trying to focus in low light , it just either takes too long or does not focus at all and I have to wiggle and try to find another spot. It is not the case with a flat uniform area . It was on children faces . When I tried with a black background - no good luck.

Does anybody have a similar experience? Is it common for the Nikon 7100 or the Tamron tele-lens. I am trying to find if it is the camera or lens limitation from the factory or if I have a broken equipment.

Thank you for the input, Miro

OK, OK Please do not do the Copyright or Copy write PhD. From this. I am taking your corrections/spanking friendly = good to learn. BUT ...my intent is not the same as the Profi Dude's. I just do not want anybody to spread the avalanche of my ugly face or family shots around the world. The average person will not take the effort to break the simple protection ...let's leave this to FBI guys.

But .... thank you all for responding to me Miro

OK, thank you . I do not have comfort with Face book ...at all for anything. I guess, Flicker is the same/similar, but I will explorer . Shutterfly may be the way to go .
I appreciate the hints. Miro

Thank you for the info. I will try.

BTW - I have already had a naughty discussion about this . Did not do any research but...I believe that unless you have a name or copyright symbol or note on the picture , anyone can copy and use it. As far as copyright marking ...I think it is only a moral issue, unless it is registered. AND it also is meaning less unless you go thru the lawsuit ...and again , if you do not make money on the stolen photo, there is no point to pay lawyer.

I do not care too much about it. My photo skills are at the level I would be thrilled if somebody steels any. If you do not understand ...think about it like as a stolen mother in law. Have a nice day and thanks again M

Can someone direct me to a web site where I can upload photos for the review?
I would like to create some albums or PP slide shows and control it - restrict their review to specified people for a specific time .

IE. "friends Mike & Robert can see from September 10.2019 to September 15. 2019 my Album#1 - Alaska Cruise 1915 . Copying or modification not allowed. Well, my photos are not worth of copy-writing but I still do not want them to float around. I know some people use Face-Book, but I do not want to do that.

I have heard about a side Wix ...?

Thank you for your direction Miro

Thanks for the advice. Yes, my monitor has HDMI ports. As a note: I have read that it should not be issue anyway ...there are adaptors to use . And yes...I do not like too much adaptors. But in this area, I am OK. The cables were supplied with the 4K monitor .. so I assume they are right.
