Be aware that different companies make canvas papers with different finish options. Most are matte coating, but there are canvas papers available with a satin finish coating as well. Some offer options as to natural or bright white canvases as well.
Also, many of the canvas papers will yield less than optimal blacks. Using an aerosol varnish afterward can help bring up the best in contrast, as well as providing UV and H2O protection.

Did you use the papers in a Pro 100? I've found that some papers are great in an Epson, but when used in a Canon are just awful. Also I've never been a fan of the Photomatix special effects, but using paint + canvas sounds interesting.
