I upgraded to Spyder5 from Spyder4 and I'm pleased with the results. The software that comes with it is a snap to use if you let it calibrate in auto mode. It also has advanced options that let you go crazy.

If you have money to burn, an upgrade to FF would be the way to go. The 7200 just isn't an upgrade that gives you an upgrade that is worth the bucks.

It won't do you any harm. I've installed the latest driver many times and after one of them PS6 seemed to run faster even though there was no mention of PS in the release notes.

I like the look of Canon photo paper pro luster. GENorkus has good advice to buy small packs. Some papers do not work well in some printers. I tried Kodak glossy in my Epson and the black ink pooled on the surface. Same paper works great in my Canon.

105 Nikon is a sure bet. It's not just a good macro lens, it's a great portrait lens.

The IR feature is located in the effects portion of the mode dial. It is neat to see what IR does during daylight. It looks like a different B/W photo. But, looks like B/W.

Are you looking at Night View?

Normal is the mode you use when you are standing still and hand holding the camera. Active is used when your moving fast, as in a car. When I use a monopod I keep VR on. If you are using a tripod turn it off unless the lens has a tripod mode. When a non-tripod mode VR is on a tripod it senses a feedback and wants to correct it, creating more feedback and really bad IQ.

I use a D800e as my primary body. I bought my sons d7100s for Christmas and I was so impressed that I got one as a backup.

As to which brand of canvas inkjet paper is the best, we could probably argue until the cows come home and the final result will still come down to personal preference. All of the major paper makers (Moab, Hahnemuhle, Red River, Ilford) produce a line of canvas papers, all of which are capable of yielding excellent results. Personally, I've had nice results from both the Moab Anasazi Canvas and Hahnemuhle Deguerre Canvas.

If you are a member of a camera club, check with other members who may be able to show you examples of canvas papers they may have used.

Be aware that different companies make canvas papers with different finish options. Most are matte coating, but there are canvas papers available with a satin finish coating as well. Some offer options as to natural or bright white canvases as well.

Also, many of the canvas papers will yield less than optimal blacks. Using an aerosol varnish afterward can help bring up the best in contrast, as well as providing UV and H2O protection.

Did you use the papers in a Pro 100? I've found that some papers are great in an Epson, but when used in a Canon are just awful. Also I've never been a fan of the Photomatix special effects, but using paint + canvas sounds interesting.

I've been a Photomatix Pro user for 2 years and like Terje I love it. I'm not into the special effects, but for things like a church interior with a bright stained glass window, nothing can beat it.

I've scanned in about 10,000 slides taken in the late 60s and 70s. They have all the same problems that digital images have with the added problem of not knowing it until they come back from the lab. It's not sinful to correct them in Photoshop. I only have 30 years of slides left to scan.

i wish someone would tell me how to prevent it from changing from single-point to multi-point and how to prevent it from over-riding my iso selection when it knows i'm wrong..

see pg 81 I think par 2 will prevent iso override. Don't know about focus points. (I just haven't used d7100 enough to run into the problem).

I gave my sons d7100s as Christmas gifts. I was so impressed with the camera that I got one as a backup for my d800e. Yes it has a dof preview. Good shooting!

I'm a Wimberley user, but the Nest MT is selling looks like a carbon copy (pun intended). Make sure you have a tripod that will be rock solid under it.

wingclui44,

Point well taken. My post assumed OP wanted current lenses. Vivitar is not the company they used to be.
