I didn't realize that he also stole my cormorant shot which I have currently entered in a few contests including a rather large juried one. :( So discouraging that we share the planet with derelicts like that!

Just curious, pedelmasher, how do you know the picture was stolen and then put up for sale? Is there a way to protect downloadable images on UHH, like maybe placing a watermark on the picture or something like that?

Other ideas from other hedgehogs are welcome??????
Thanks,
- Jim

Jim, one of the members gave me the link to the site where the shot I posted on this forum was being offered for sale. In regards to watermarks, I guess if one slaps one right across the main theme, but I find that it takes me all of a couple of seconds to erase one of my own watermarks that is at the bottom out of the main action. It seems the only way to be sure is to upload only lo-res images (unfortunately).

I'm not sure which blew me away more: the terrific shots or the fact that someone would actually steal and sell your photo. I hope whoever it is, gets caught and punished. I'm outraged! :x

Thanks TT, BTW, the owlet was 11 days old in this shot. I hope to follow its development!

This is the reason I only put up snapshots, even on sites like facebook. A lot of time I will still use my old Nikon Coolpix 990, it's only got 3MP. Everything that I put online to sell, like on Ebay, or Craigslist, I use the 990. I would never post a picture that I was contemplating on selling unless it had a watermark or my name across the entire picture. Like someone else posted, obviously your work is good enough to steal, and it should be a comfort to you. Mark your pictures, and do share them.

Obviously a good plan!

Most criminals are not sorry for what they did, only sorry they got caught.

Amen, is this derelict naive enough to think that had he not been caught we believe he would still not be stealing and selling our work? I'm not convinced that he is still not doing it if the opportunity arises.

Great pictures, I think they can copy and print your pictures without the download. I haven' t tried it so don't know for sure. Thanks for sharing. I hate to suggest it, but how about putting a water mark across the center of the pictures. Bee

Thanks Bee, I hate to see watermarks across work. I just hope that this character that has been stealing photos is a very, very small minority.

FWIW, the Twitter site is still active this morning. From my understanding of Twitter's response, they disclaim responsibility as they are not the hosting web site--Fine Art America is. I have filed a complaint with them (FAA) as of last night. No response so far.

This is JFantasma, I have tried holding my tongue about all the stuff that has been said about me. I have no idea why my twiiter account was re-activated but all the photos that are posted there are dead links. I re-closed the account I shut down all websites and am no longer selling artwork. I have already given an apology. There is no other way I can justify my actions. My actions were disgraceful and I am ashamed of it. No sob stories, no excuses. I offered to deal with everyone individually. There is my civil side.

If you look back at all the old posts I have posted as JFantasma on here. I shared a lot about me. It wasn't all a set up to steal pictures from you.. I posted a photo of me with the secretary of the army in my uniform. I posted pictures of my kids. Question me if you want but I will not have anyone making threats. The addresses that were posted here are my parents. Cedar is my 83 year old grandmother and my home of record address from the military and Jerry Murphy is my father in which is who we stayed with for a while after I got out.

Now I will say that you all are smart people no doubt. You can figure things out pretty well. I am wondering why the thought that I never was hiding this came into the mix. Generally people don't go to the store and steal something and then go back into the store with the stolen item and wave it around in the air and say, hey look at what I stole from you. I never came here with the intent to steal photos. I appreciate all great artwork, I can admit that it was pure stupidity and I obviously wasn't in my right mind. This really is not in my nature and actually goes against my beliefs.

Luke 23:34 Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing."

Luke 23:42
"Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!"

Luke 23:43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."

To close this out I will say this. You are making threats to me. I have had my fair share of violence. My life is an open book. Threats in themselves of bodily harm is against the law as well. My rebuttal to that is, if you plan on coming here where my family is, disabled or not, you may as well pack a one way bag. I HAVE the right to protect my home and my family and trust me I will just as anyone would.

Now I say again, lets settle this civilly we are all adults here. I will be in wyoming for 12 weeks in a VA hospital but I will get back to you asap.

All very fascinating Jim, but I would take some of the proceeds that you received from the stolen photos and get some psychiatric care - soon! Hopefully you are or can receive that type of care at the VA hospital. I also served in the military and have no need to post my military credentials in an attempt to elicit sympathy as you do for your pathetic, illegal, immoral and criminal actions.

Finally, don't be so quick to point your fingers at others when you brought this all on your irresponsible self. You certainly must appreciate that actions as frustrating as yours can easily conjure up thoughts of not only legal, but perhaps more satisfying physical retribution.

I have served with many heroes, Flying aces, people who have been POWs for multiple years, etc., etc. I have been under enemy fire. I am distressed to know that a derelict like you served in our nation's uniform. BTW, quoting the bible doesn't excuse or diminish your actions. You are a common thief and liar and posting a shot of your re-enlistment certainly does not diminish your actions. I only hope you no longer serve in our great military.

Maybe a miracle has occurred and you actually learned something positive from this experience, again, all brought on by your illegal activities. Unfortunately, from my experience, I realize that people truly never change, they simply can modify behavior, but therein still lurks the derelict that you are.
