It is a shame that photography thieves patrol this site. :(

I was informed this morning by a member that a shot of a great white Ibis that I had posted had apparently been stolen from the site and posted for sale on a thief's website. He must be known in that the person pointing it out to me referred to him as "The Thief."

His name is Jim Fierro Jr. and he apparently lives in Colorado. Below are his twitter and facebook links, and he sells the stolen work on the former.

Here are two screen shots of the derelict/thief's postings of my work for sale. There must be a way to stop people like this. I don't care if I make a dime off of my beloved hobby, but I don't want to see someone making money off of my work!

JFantasma is a member on UHH and over the last few weeks many people have found their UHH postings on his sites, has even put his own watermark on some of them!!

The only way to totally prevent it is to not post any photos online, but to reduce the chances of anyone being able to sell YOUR photos, only post them with the long side no more than 600-640pixels since they wouldn't print much larger than 4-6inches. Also include a watermark since the removal of a watermark is a definite crime!

Sorry you were a target pedalmaster. There was a very long thread on this guy several weeks ago. He stole many photos from members here and posted them on several different websites that were taken down. If you do a search I'm sure you will find the thread or perhaps someone will come along that will provide it for you. This is one of many reasons I don't post photos. Good luck making it right. ;)

When his actions were being talked about recently, I fully expected to see your other shot there. Yes, this is very, very frustrating. Especially that none of my shots have been stolen. Consider yourself worthy! ;-)

I guess like everything in life there is an upside. Apparently the derelict thought my work good enough to steal! :)

Thanks David, as I began my hunt for this guy, I did find two sites that were no longer valid where he apparently was hawking his stolen wares. I wrote to him both on twitter and facebook and informed him that if he was disabled, his disability is nothing now to what it will be if we cross paths!

He has been banned from UHH - at least as user jfantasma. Here are a couple of the original threads. You make UHH'er #14, as far as I know. He was selling through Fine Arts of America.

I have a question Linda, do you think posting a JPeg right out of the camera and slightly PP, then reduced 50% would help to make the pictures not worth stealing? They are still good enough to share. Just a thought.

Phil
