Canon has announced the release of two entry level DSLRs and i have been told SX60 ain't that far away. And that the SX60 will have more DSLR type features. Is this correct? And what the heck is Canon's really doing and why? Have a friend who is thinking about buying a entry level Canon or maybe the SX but doesn't know what to choose. I can't help him, what do you think?

If you "Google" Canon SX60 you end up with a Canon SX60 Projector, see below

Another Option is to use CHDK on his existing SONY SX40, giving it lots more options for Zero cost like This:-

CHDK FeaturesEdit

RAW - CHDK can record raw files, giving you access to every bit of data the sensor saw, without compression or processing. Raw files can be manipulated on the camera, or processed on your PC. CHDK supports the open DNG raw standard.
Override Camera parameters - Exposures from 2048s to 1/60,000s with flash sync. Full manual or priority control over exposure, aperture, ISO and focus.
Bracketing - Bracketing is supported for exposure, aperture, ISO, and even focus.
Video Overrides - Control the quality or bitrate of video, or change it on the fly. Extended video clip length - 1 hour or 2GB.
Scripting - Control CHDK and camera features using uBASIC and Lua scripts. Enables time lapse, motion detection, advanced bracketing, and much more. Many user-written scripts are available on the forum and wiki.
Motion detection - Trigger exposure in response to motion, fast enough to catch lightning.
Edge overlay - Detect the edges in a scene, and display them later. Ideal for timelapses, stop-motion, stereography and much more.
Live Histogram - CHDK includes a customizable, live histogram display, like those typically found on more expensive cameras. (RGB, blended, luminance and for each RGB channel)
Zebra-Mode - Displays under and overexposure areas live on the screen.
GRIDS - Create custom grids and display whichever one suits your shooting conditions.
Multi-Lingual Interface - CHDK supports about 22 languages, and adding more languages is simple.
DOF Calculator - Display detailed DOF information on the screen.
Customizable OSD - Improved display of battery status, free space, camera parameters, and much more. Fully customizable with an on-screen editor.
Filebrowser - Manage files without a PC.
Textreader - Display text files on your camera.
Games - Play Reversi, Sokoban, Mastermind, 4-in-a-Row, Tetris, Snake or Sudoku on your camera.
Calendar
USB Remote - Simple DIY remote allows you to trigger exposures or scripts.
PTP Extension - Remote control and display from a PC
Benchmark - Compare the performance of your SD cards.
User Menu - Edit your own customizable User-Menu for fast access to often used features.
Battery Indicator - Always on
Ability to control dark frame subtraction

Just a thought, what about Hot shoe for Speedlight, or Remote control etc.

May not need them now, but next week you may wish you had.

Hey Willie ! See you're new. First ... go to My Profile, look down list for "Location" and give us an idea where you are.

Regarding finding your pics on your computer. Are you Windows or Mac? Have you filed your picture into a filing system, or just hit "save"? Best place to file photos is in My Pictures (Windows Library) and then set up sub-files to suit. Did you give your pic a name? Use your search facility to find it. My guess is that, if you just hit "save" that it's in the My Pictures root.

Regarding emailing photos ..... your email provider (eg Hotmail, gmail) will have a button at top or side of page, that says "attachment". Hit that and a box should open showing your root filing system. You then find the photo from the file you placed it in, highlight it and press "open" at the bottom of the box. Your file should then appear at the top of your email as an attachment. Press "send" and it all should fly sweetly over the airwaves.

Good luck.
Hey Willie ! See you're new. First ... go to My Pr... (show quote)

But maybe not, this method assumes that the Photo File is small, (e-mail has a very small Maximum file size able to send) most Photo`s are to big to send so need some adjustment to make suitable to send by e-mail.

In most Photo Software, Zoner, P.Elements, etc there is usually an option to save or send as an e-mail, so do this and send the resulting file as your attachment, making sure you keep your original Photo in case you need to print or edit it.

unfortunatly the future of TV in UK is heading towards PAYTV, either go with the flow or miss out.

But what you are saying is this - I`m pi**ed off at not being able to watch Free (Licence fee paid for) but if you could afford it you would probably not watch it on Principle.

So problem solved, go out take a few Photo`s, have a Beer, play with the Kids, etc. and be better for it and wealthier
