Dont worry he knew how to use his camera more so than any other , it was the camera itself that wasn't upto the standerd he had in mind , so he had to dodge and burn the hell out of each to get what he wanted , if the same man
Of the same mind had a camera like the D800 , D810 sent to him by some power , the pictures that would be made in that same time frame would still be blowing people's minds today can't you just see it a D800 for Ansel Adams and photo shop , WOW .

Soapbox or guy beating a dead horse...both are very deserving of this post. Why does it irk you so much? Just go out and shoot and edit (or don't edit) your own images. Worry less what others are doing and shoot more.
Exactly ,a person can get too wrapped up in the how and why , who cares , the work is in the pudding it's good
Bad or ugly , that is about all that needs to be said about a photo , unless the pic taker ask for a detailed opinion .

I am going to Germany for Karneval and will be taking many shots of parades, indoors and outdoor closer in shots and finally a night time party in a large hall for a couple hundred people with not great lighting. The equipment I own are D7100 with Nikkor 18-300 lens, D750 with Nikkor 24-70 2.8 VR, Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR, Nikkor 28-300 3.5 VR and finally Nikkor 200-500. Also a thinktank airportinternational V2.0 and an SB700 flash. What set up do you recommend for the camera/lens to take with me? I am leaning towards the D7100 with the 18-300 to give me reach (450mm crop setup) and the D750 with the 24-70 2.8 for closer in shooting, plus the 28-300-I have put this configuration into the bag and it fits (barely). Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Listen to rognogono , if you bought all your other stuff the way your getting your advice now , you haven't learned
Anything , my opinion is this is just a joke . As any one with the gear you clam you have surly would have used it enough to know what to bring on a trip , it would only take me about a week of shooting with with your gear and I would know what to bring , that's if I was a compleat beginner . Good grief man it doesent cost a cent to shot a thousand pic on a couple camera cards . Get off your behind and get out and shoot a couple few thousand shots with your gear I guarantee you will know what to bring in a very very short time , I'm guessing you know how to use your cameras if not just put them in P mode program for Nikons . And click away
Are you sure that's a eagle, it looks like a Mohawk to me .
Best of the holidays to you Regis , and good hunting .

But think of it! Right now you can buy a brand new D810 with full 1 year warranty for $2500 and it comes with the battery grip as well as the extra battery. The upgraded one when it comes out I think would cost $3300 and if you do want the battery grip it would cost you something like $400 more. I think so because the D800, D810 all were introduced with price around that. So if the D810 fit my need then I won't hesitate to buy it now. However, I am one who never upgrade unless my camera quits working. For some people they just have to upgrade whenever the new model is introduced. I think the price right now is the best price one can get on a brand new D810. Any lower price would only get you used one.

50mm is a very good portrait lens on FF and a considered part of the holy trinity by many. Not good for head shots but it is at the beginning focal length for portait work. Anyone who discounts the 50mm size is obviously an amateur photographer ;) ...but many amateurs do have the 50mm and don't outsmart themselves with poor assumptions. 50mm is not so good for an 80mm equivalent on crop but still a good choice for general photography. But a 70mm or a 75mm is a better one for that same shot on a ff than a 50mm , you don't have to get right in the subjects face , makes them a bit more relaxed than sticking a camera up there nose .

The 50mm lens gives you the natural perspective that you see. Other lenses create a distorted (telescopic or micro) view of what you see.
I dident know the 80 d was a full frame camera , I was thinking it give the perspective of a 75 mm on a dx camera , that
Would make it a good portrate lens
it kind of blows my mind that some one would buy such a high brow camera , then ask a question such as that , i think the question you should have been asking is -- i dont know that much about the photog game ,would a d810 be a good starter camera .but thats just me , i would not be buying a d810 if i did not know what lens i would be buying . or what i plan on shooting , but the f2.8 would be the best way to go , if your into night shooting stars , fire works etc.
