Hello Everyone, thanks for the comments, I agree strongly with everyone! I am taking this a learning curve, listening to others opinions to help me gain confidence, build my skills and use the technology that i have. The camera i used was a; Canon 1000D with a 35-55mm lens.

Nice one Sarah, keep shooting and keep feeding us your work.....
The day will come, when you're the one giving advice....!!

Welcome and thanks for sharing.
Love the cat.......!
Maybe compose the shot with the cats head further over to the right. I think any portrait (human or other) looks better with the subject 'looking into' the frame.
A wider aperture to try and throw the wire mesh out of focus - not always possible, I know......!
Just my two penneth.....

I don't mean to state the obvious, but are the front and rear elements clean.....?
It might be worth selecting one AF are in 'local' settings.
Let us download the image for a closer look.
I have an old Sigma 28-105mm that works fine on my A390 and A57 bodies.
What settings did you use....?
Where was your focus point....?

I've used silicon grease on the lenses of all my old Zenits, after cleaning with 'lighter fuel'.
The focus and apeture rings are all as smooth as a baby's butt.
Just need to be a bit sparing, that's all.

Welcome...as a fellow western Canadian now on extended walkabout in England and strictly amateur enthusiast, I can tell you you came to the right place.

I won't say I wished I was laid up with a gimpy leg but there just seems too much to do with the time available for snapping and editing. Make the most of the downtime you get because once you're up and running again, there just isn't enough time in the day.

I agree 100%........! Make the most of it........

I hope you weren't paid for this, Ias this is a serious subject I will give a serious opinion.

Terrible.

Leaning buildings, glasses and props.

People not looking at the camera.

Over exposed, unsharp and poorly composed.

In fact I would find it hard to say anything positive about any of the photographs here.

People will knock me for being harsh, sorry, you asked for comments.

Like I said before I am learning from my mistakes! Give me a break, NOONE is Perfect!

Sarah Louise, we all have to start somewhere and like you said, you are learning from your mistakes........
I hope you haven't been put off so much as to leave the forum... :-( , as there is plenty of good advice available.
Enjoying your photography is the important thing, if things aren't technically perfect, so what....... :-)
Think of it this way, would you have let the most emminent surgeon take your appendix out when he was in Med School......??, no me neither...... :D
I think your pictures have the makings of some great shots, so stick with it.....!
BTW, where in South Wales is Llan yr Afon....?
