Make sure you take a good tripod. You will spend most of your time sitting still and photographing the bears from a distance.

Yes, both places. Homer is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Always wanted to live there. Make sure you allow some time in Homer for the many photo ops including glaciers, and you won't believe the eagles on the spit!
Katmai is huge and the photo ops are unlimited. Also one of the best places in Alaska to get your brown bear photos. Take lots of film...;-)

I'll be spending time in Alaska's Kenai Peninsula this summer photographing brown bears during the salmon run. I plan to take to take two camera bodies with lenses and CPLs already attached (Fuji X-T2 w/18-135 & Canon 80D w/Sigma 150-600). The environmental conditions will not be conducive to changing lenses or putting a bag or backpack down to swap cameras or access other gear since it's very wet in most areas. So, I'm looking for a bag or backpack that will give me the ability to store and swap the two cameras without setting it down while hiking and shooting. Suggestions?

Being a long time Alaskan, I know the brown bear population on the Kenai Peninsula has been greatly reduced. Best bet is on the Alaskan Peninsula at McNeil River or Kodiak Island.

[quote=Chris T]6x7 II, Griz?

How's that diff from the 6x7?

Come on, now .... ELEVEN lenses to fit the Pentax 6x7?

Surely, you jest!!!!

I, too was a Mamiya RB67 user ... for the longest time ... miss it ... still - I've got the Pentax, now ....

The Pentax 67ii is just the latest version of the 6x7. Yep, eleven 67ii lenses and will be getting 2 more to complete my kit.
My Mamiya is a RZ, the later version of the RB. Use both cameras for different purposes, mainly how far do I need to hike to make the photograph.

For film in medium format, I use both the Pentax 67ii with 11 lenses and the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II system. Can't beat the look of wet and super-sized prints.

Great photos.
When do you think the Aspens will be at their peak?

I have used them for years in my portable flashes, they work better and longer than any other rechargeable batteries, plus they recycle a lot faster. They do tend to discharge faster when not in use though.
Also, they REQUIRE their own charger, regular 1.2 volt chargers will ruin them.

Which Brand do you prefer? Thanks

Goofy,

I agree. Everything I have bought from KEH has exceeded my expectations except for this ONE time.

I purchased a used film camera from KEH, at a very good price. Upon inspection, after it arrived, I was disappointed in the overall condition of the camera and expressed this to KEH. They immediately provided me a PP return label. My credit card was reimbursed within a couple of days. At this point, I was very satisfied with the results. But then.....Are you ready for this?????...They also gave me a gift card for the full amount of the original purchase!!!! I used the gift card to purchase another, more expensive camera.

There are several good businesses out there selling used equipment, but I don't think you will find a better, more trusting one than KEH.

Thanks. I know there are lots who think like us. Too bad people like that never learn anything. There are a lot of good photographers here though.

Yes, there are some good photographers on this site, but I have also noticed some of the best are no longer posting comments. I'm sure it is because they are tired of the foul treatment like you have experienced.
