I was thinking of joining a photo club. I was wondering what you thoughts were on these clubs.
I've done some research and there are quit a few in the Cleveland/Akron Ohio area.

The spider was so small and fast I had to put it in a cup; however that was still very difficult. Unfortunately by the time I got the shot the spider had expired.

I used a tripod with a side rail. I aligned 4 photos using Hugin, stacked the 4 using Enfuse and edited in Gimp.
Hugin (software): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugin_(software)
Enfuse: http://software.bergmark.com/enfusegui/Main.html
GIMP: https://www.gimp.org

I'm a freeware type of guy :)

I think the Fly is the most photographed insect. This is my best attempt yet.
Canon 5Dsr with 65mm MP-E lens.
Thanks for any feedback, Chris

Well it worked! Did you add the white background in post production or use white seamless?

I added white background. I use gimp for post production. The fireworks photo was a picture I took 4th of July. I layered my grandsons picture on top of the fireworks pic, then erased the background my grandsons pic, resulting in a pic with grandson and fireworks.

These are phenomenal. He has a lot of charisma and you have a great deal of talent. Could you tell us a little about your lighting set up? Thank you for posting.

I used a Canon 560 speedlight and a 2 blub backlight. The room also had florescent lighting. I don’t know much about lighting. I just play around moving light until the scene looks good to me. Thanks

I put him on a pool table and told him to just dance to the music. I think they came out pretty good considering a 4 yr old moves around really fast.

I can't tell if the focus is off or just a very small physical file. 1/50 is too slow for starters, any movement such as guitar player's hands are blurred and musicians seldom stand still. When I do concerts I go manual with aperture set to DOF I want(2.8 4.0 etc) and a shutter appropriate to catch the movement and then use AUTO ISO. Let the camera do the work so you can concentrate on shooting and not settings as light changes. Yes, some of the ISOs selected will be high but the 5DS has one hell of sensor not discounting the monster # of pixels. I would shoot raw so I cans post process the white balance.

Great tips. I did resize the files really small to upload here. For some reason I was thinking 1/50 because of the low light in the room and trying to keep ISO at the lowest I could. What shutter speed would you recommend in this type of dark setting with movement and hand held? Thanks

Thanks for the tips. I’m just an amateur sitting in the front row with my camera and a single malt scotch.

I intentionally took shots with the mike being a part of the photo as I was trying to capture the moment from the prospective of the audience.

Canon 5DS R with EF 24-70mm F2.8 lens –Shutter 1/50 App 2.8 ISO 1600.
