Not true...

Tamron also designates the format their lenses are designed for:

"Di" is for full frame (i.e, "FX" in Nikon-speak, "EF" in Canonese).
"Di II" is for APS-C (i.e., "DX" in Nikonese, EF-S in Canon-speak).
"Di III" is for mirrorless cameras ("EF-M" in Canon, dunno what Nikon calls them).

You are absolutely correct my bad. '1 NIKKOR' is the designation for the Nikon Mirrorless Lenses

Thanks Craig, That D800e is a fantastic unit you will love it. Use a tripod with a 3 sec delay on mirror lockup and it gets sharp as a tack.

Thanks you the Tip, I will do.

My first good close-up. I have learned never pack the equipment up till I get home. I traveled over 50 miles today looking for birds and I found this eagle less than a mile from my house on the way home.

That combination of the D810, 1.4x TC and 300mm is awesome. Nice work.

I've set aside or given gear commensurate with their needs to family members but what is to become of the high end bodys and glass when i croak?
Of course i want o use them until the last moment but how do i get them into the hands of people who could benefit from them after that?
Are there trusts, lend /lease programs, photo school scholarships?
Does anyone here face the same questions?

To be honest I have been lusting after 2 of you Lenses the Tokina 100mm and the Canon MP-E 65mm lens. Both of those Lenses would be well maintained and used. I am very meticulous. I love Macro I'm just lacking the proper Lenses.

Can someone please explain the symbols with regards to the naming of various lenses by manufacturers. Nikon has the DX and FX. So what is the equivalent in Tokina, Tamron, Sigma?

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Autofocus Please explain the
EX DC HSM

Thanks in advance.

In Sigma Lenses DC = DX (Nikon & Tokina) for Crop Sensor. Sgima DG = FX for Full Frame Sensor.
In Tamron you have to go to the site and check each lens individually. A lot of the Tamron lenses are for the Crop Formats.

I have a Canon EOS7D with an 18-270 Tamron lens. The first photo is one my daughter took. No movement. The second photo I took and it shows blurred movement. What setting do I use for this? The photos of the jumping coyotes one other photographer took is what I want. Stop action. Help......

Yes you do want a faster shutter speed, shot in shutter speed mode. In the first shot your daughter took the action was almost stopped at the top of the bar. Where in your shot the action is in full speed at her feet.

Hate to sound stupid but what is dds. Lol I never though to google how to stack them. Well if there is an backassward way of doing something I will undoubtedly be found stumbling along that path. At least blissfully unaware.

Thanks,

DDS is supposed to be DSS Deep Sky Stacker. It's free just Google it. I don't know you may be using it now???

What I ultimately ended up doing was after calibrating and simple noise reduction, I stacked the 20min of exposure using mean combination. Since the comet moves so much even from one exposure to the next I found it impossible to have everything line up properly, so focused primarily on just the comet for registration. I imported the combined image and a 1 or 2 minute exposure of the comet into CS6.

What I ended up doing was using the combined image I erased everything but the comet and its immediate surroundings, I even methodically went through the tail fixing all the messed up star images by using the healing brush. Once I was satisfied that all that remained was the data of the comet I layered it over top of the shorter exposure and used the Lighten blending mode to allow all the stars from the shorter exposure to shine through the haze of the comet. It didn't come out perfect, but I could not figure out a better way of having semi-round stars plus a decent showing of the comet and its tail.

Thanks,
Matthew

I just looked in DDS and found some Help Files for stacking Comets.
I need to read up on that.
