I use the little picture hanging packages from Walmart or most any hardware. They contain small screw in eye hooks and framing wire, usually enough to hang several pictures for a couple of dollars and those little j shape hooks with a small nail to go into the drywall. Just measure down from the top of the frame to a point on either side and screw in the eye hooks, make sure they are equal it is easy and just slide your picture on the wire to level it.

Check MyPhotopipe online. I looked for you but they do not offer a 18x36 but if you contact them they might be able to make if for you. They do offer a 18x24. Good luck

If staying within your budget is important then consider this equipment and check prices on Ebay, KEH, and National Camera Exchange.
For your partner a Nikon D200 and a Nikon 28-105 AF lens, not perfect but inexpensive and the lens has pretty good macro capability which enables great close ups of flowers or small art objects.
For you look at the Nikon D300 and a AF 80-200 f2.8 D lens. Good luck.

I don't know what your time line is, but if you need to do this quickly consider renting a camera and lens. I recently wanted to test a lens so I rented on over a weekend and made my decision. I mostly use a Nikon D600 which has 24mp. Check your local camera stores or online I use http://www.atsrentals.com/. Good luck.

I believe the card reader is the way to go. The files will transfer from the card into the pc much faster using a card reader. If your pc is fairly new it may have usb-3 ports and they are much faster than than the usb-2 ports, if that is the case make sure the card reader you buy will be usb-3 compatible.

My advice had nothing to do with color balance which is a function of the color of the light. If you don't think that exposure meters are based on a neutral gray go out and shoot a full frame pure white object and then a pure black object with the color balance matching the light. Neither image will be a true representation of the color of the object you shot.

This is a bit complicated, your camera meter is trying to expose so that your subject shows up as a neutral gray. I would recommend as others have either read the exposure off your palm or green grass or a grey sidewalk and set your exposure to that. Unless you are spot metering off the face of your subject your camera is also reading on the background of your subject.

If I had to do what you do and was using a D800, I would seriously consider a AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR or something equivalent by Sigma or Tamron. The lens has a wide zoom range and even at f5.6 on a D800 with it's ability to handle high ISO you should be fine. For accurate reviews just ask these folks at UHH or check reviews online.
