Photogenic sites along the cost from Boston to Kennebunkport

Folks travelling to Cape Cod and Southern Maine this fall and I would like to find a few good photography sites. I am trying to teach my daughter how to take a picture she can be proud of.
Nothing makes photography more fun than when others admire your pictures, and help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jack

Make sure she knows how to use the camera (focus, thirds rule, etc.) and just turn her loose to let her find her own subjects. Nothing kills an interest in photography like telling someone what to take and how to do it. She isn't going to think like you do, and she'll resent being told to do so. Go and shoot with her, and maybe she'll do some imitating. Don't, though, tell her what to do unless she asks. Let her find her own way. If she shoots what you think are crappy photos, so be it. If she likes them, that's all that matters. If she likes photography, she'll grow; if she doesn't, let it go. But, whatever, don't tell her what to do. That will drive her away for sure.

I am trying to find beautiful locations for her. She and I are going to England in September. Folks bear in mind the best photographer can't make beautiful landxcapes with a ugly subject.

Agree with the prior ideas. I like the Cape Ann area, with all the little harbors, with or without the whale tour (also photogenic if time allows).
Plum Island is a little north of there and is worth reading up on to see if it suits her interests.
Put the lighthouses at Portland Head and Kittery on her don't- miss list, they are some of the most classic lighthouses in the country.
Kennebunkport itself is not short of photo ops. Try the docks at Cape Porpoise and Goose Rocks beach just north.

In Boston, there is the Boston Common, Public Gardens, and Esplanade. Lots of street photography opportunities in downtown, Beacon Hill, and Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market.

Welcome - It can be a nice time to visit. But I think I'd rather be in Virginia at that time. Grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side.

There is so much to photograph in Maine! I would recommend buying "The Photographer's Guide to the Maine Coast" by David Middleton and Bruce H. Morrison, a small investment that will give you an excellent guide to all those photogenic places in the coast of Maine. The Nubble Light, in Cape Kennedy is just a short distance south from Kennebunkport and it is one of the most photographed lighthouses in North America second only to the Portland Lighthouse which is more toward the north. The Pemaquid Light is also very photogenic but it is way above Kennebunkport.

Just open your eyes and look around. We were there last October and almost any place is beautiful. Your problem is going to be not enough time to photograph everything you want.

Kennebunkport alone will keep you busy. Goose Rocks Beach is an especially nice place to shoot, and I've posted a fair number of examples here. Blowing Rock, along Ocean Drive, George HW Bush's home on Walker Point, and the lower Port area itself all are full of opportunities. The pier in Cape Porpoise is also quite beautiful.
The Marginal Way in Ogunquit is another favorite, nice walk along the ocean.
Cape Cod, Plymouth, and Boston have more photo ops than Carter has liver pills. Those alone can keep the two of you busy for a lifetime.
