Smoke from your neighbor? How rude!
Were you able to view any of it?

No just whiffs of smoke but I sure like your shot so I'll live vicariously thru yours.

Craig invited me to join this topic area and post some shots. So I poked around at some of your all's shots. I think I will go crawl under my rock you guys are fantastic at this. So I thought I would give you a good laugh and show you my moon shot tonight.

PJ this is a good start. Much better than the first moon shoots I took 8 months ago when I started. Just listen to these guys they have helped me. We all help each other. Any questions please ask.

Taken with a Canon 60Da, and a Tamron 16-300 zoom at around 70 or so mm. Really didn't pay that much attention. Exposure was about 1min and 45 sec. Sky glow (light pollution) prevented any longer of an exposure. Tracking was with an IOptron Sky Tracker.

Love those Comet shots.

Another Nit Pick - I think you should say "down to" and not "up to" since the f/stops are getting smaller. - Dave

Since I did not mention anything about Stop Down, just raise the numeric value, I am happy with Up To.

Wow, did you know it was coming?

Yes I did, I get a an Astronomy email notice everyday about current and upcoming Astro events. Plus I belong to a club, VAAS, at the Vandenberg AFB. One member is a Professor at the local collage, another built all of the Telescopes at the Air Base.

Wow too cool, I have been thinking of getting a camera capable telescope, but man they can cost a left ARM. Great capture and patience.

Thank you very much PJ, I got pics almost as good with my Tamron 150-600 Len.

I was just reading a book called F64 about that group of photographers and wondered if any lenses for digital cameras would go to f64 nowadays. Are the sensors large enough? Are digital cameras even capable of handling a lens like that?
Thank you,
mariak

Jupiter's rare event of the transit of three moons casting there shadows on the jovian disc on January 24th, This will not happen again until 2032. Single shot from within Albuquerque's white zone using Celestron C11 Ultima with Celestron Light Pollution Reduction Filter and 2X Barlow.
All three shadows were on the clouds for only 24 minutes.
Shot nearly straight up so less air and slightly better viewing.

Very nice job Jim well done. There was to much smoke in my backyard from the neighbors fireplace for me to get anything. But you did fantastic .
