I do a lot of photography in rainy weather. Or at least I want to get out more when the weather is damp and raining. My interests are mainly wildlife, birds, lakes, ponds, rivers etc. I want something I can take when i go fly fishing. I also travel to the beach areas where sand can be a problem. I currently have a Nikon D3300 with a harem of lenses. 18-105, 35, 55-300, 18-55.
How do I protect my camera and lenses when I am out in wet weather? Living in Atlanta, I don't anticipate snow, I hope. :)
Are there other cameras, (DSLR or other) you would recommend I get to take on these trips. I am interested in B&W as well, printing up to 11 x 14.
Thanks

Can I ask you why you decided to upgrade? I just bought a Nikon 3300 and I'm enjoying it and learning. What will I find that it (3300) can'tdo that the 7200 will do or do better? Or will I just find that out for myself one day and go shopping?
Thanks

Wife surprised me with a 74th birthday present to New York. Theater, Dining, Shopping, Shopping and Dining!
Staying in Manhattan, if I can find some time, what camera/photography stores would you suggest visiting, if any. And which to avoid.
Maybe I can find another birthday present on the trip.
thanks

I have the same Nikon lenses as you have and the Nikon 55-300mm.
I have found that the 18-105 is much easier to carry and satisfied my needs over 90% of time. If I were doing a lot of wildlife photography on the trip, then I would pack the 55-300

I really agree with everything being said. My comment about the determined price being lower than the original wasn't that upsetting to me. It was a film camera; I have too many cameras; I didn't want to hassle with Craigslist since you can run into some weird folks out there. I will purchase items on Craiglist of items I am very familiar with and are not electronic, like sports equipment.
So, really don't want to give KEH a bad rap. My wife is happy one more camera is gone and we can go out to dinner. LOL
Thanks

Interesting you should ask. I just used them. I live in the Atlanta area and I've wanted to visit their store but haven't yet. So I had an old Canon AE1 film camera, which I didn't expect to get much for and three lenses. Two of the lenses were in fine shape. So I submitted my quote, packaged it all up, and then waited and waited and waited. Finally got a response of less than half than what the original quote. I took it since I don't use the film stuff anymore.
But, in the future I could do better, just keeping the stuff. {ut

When I insert an SD card, it asks me what I want to do. So mine is set to start LR.

Everyone has an opinion and so everyone is correct, based on their experiences.
I am not a tech professional, far from it but I am a lot more savvy than most of the population, and especially the over 65 population.

I lived in Silicon Valley in the late 70's when Steve J was working in a garage not far from where I lived. IBM was the biggie and of course no GUI's then. I was into Cobol programming, Fortran and things I can't remember.
The first Apple computers were nothing more than toys, as one friend of mine from HP commented.
Well of course all that changed.
Over the years every organization I worked for were all non-based Mac. When I moved to Dallas in 1982, I bought my own personal 'Fat Mac' as we referred to it. I was hooked. However, I continued to study Windows and get every new version that came out. Multi tasking was talked about, but was not a reality.
Finally the technology caught up to the software, the 640kb max was mastered and one went the PC industry.
I stayed with Apple over the years for my personal computer. My Emac, though it weighed a ton, lasted forever. Then came the plethora of power books, mac books, Imacs etc.
I still have an IMac in my home office. Unfortunately, it can't be updated with any more memory. I am tired of the constant system software updates that caused problems on both the Imac and my MacBook Air.

I bought a Lenovo Laptop couple of years ago with Win7 and love it. It now has Win 10 on it.
So I purchased a desktop Lenovo with Win 8.1 and now 10.
I love it. Super fast, much memory.
So almost 40 years later I find my PC preferable to my Mac machines.
However, I understand everyone's passion for the Mac's. I was one of those that pooh poohed (sp) PC's. But not any more.

Thanks for all the answers. Saves me money buying new filter for this lens.
As an aside, all my lenses, Nikon/Nikkor have come with hoods. So I am well stocked with them.

I know I read somewhere about not needing to have a skylight/uv filter on a lens other than for protecting the lens.
All of my lenses are 52mm and I do have UV filters on them. I also have a couple of polarizing filters and ND for that size.
I just got my 18-105mm yesterday, I think it uses a 67mm? filter. I forgot to look.
So question, should I use a filter, or use the hood. Any preferences?

I have not noticed differences in my other lenses, inclduing the 55-200 with or sans the filter.
Thanks

I bought a D3100 with the kit lenses a few years ago when I was first getting into DSLR. I loved it. I wanted to upgrade to more megapixels and stay with Nikon. I checked out the 5000 series and ended up liking (for the money) the D3300. I bought the body refurbished, 605 shutter count.
It is smaller than the D3100, easier to carry and an easier to read and understand LCD view. I bought the new version of the compact 18-55 mm lens, also refurbished. Love them both.
Happy with my decision, didn't break the bank. It does for me what it sounds like what you want to do as well. I already had a 55-300mm Nikkor lens and 35mm.
