I am using a Nikon D500 with the latest firmware updates on it. I am pairing it with an iPhone 6s+. This was working fine and then all of a sudden I realized that it was no longer working. I have tried numerous times to get this back up and running. The iPhone sees the camera and it comes up in accessories but then I get the error that they could not pair. I have restarted my phone several times. I can't figure out anything else to try. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to resolve the issue?
Sounds like I need to work on getting multiple shots to stitch together with Photoshop. I'll work on that first. The weather is a little on the cold side right now (2 F) to do much outdoor shooting. Maybe this weekend I can get out and take some landscapes.
Thanks again for all the help I've received. I think I may stick with the lenses I have for now and try using Photoshop to merge shots. Now, I just have to get out and shoot some landscape photos.
Wonderful photos! Thanks for the detailed info. I do have Photoshop but have never used this feature. Something else to add to my 'to learn' list (a very long list).
Thank you for all of the quick responses. I have read all of them so far and will keep on reading. I don't plan on adding a new lens for a few months, but I'm trying to decide which lens I should add. I'm trying to get the most out of my D500 camera since I don't want to move to a FF camera for the reasons stated before. I'm 73 and want to spend as much of my spare time doing photography and PP with Photoshop CC. I'm still working for maybe another year or so and then I'll retire, again, and have more time. Want to get my equipment while I'm still working, LOL.
I have a Nikon D500 and I'm wondering what would be the best lens for this camera when I want to take Landscapes. I didn't get the camera with landscape photography in mind, but every so often I want to be able to use it for that purpose. I currently have 3 lenses for the camera, a NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G, a NIKKOR 17-55 f/2.8G and a NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G. I don't want to buy an FX lens because they are too heavy and I have no intentions of upgrading to a FF camera. The DX lenses are lighter as well as less expensive. I prefer to use a NIKKOR lens. Thanks in advance.
Nice shots. I'm sure they will appreciate them later in life.
Mine is a Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8. This is a new camera for me (D500) and I have 3 new lenses for it. This one, a micro and a telephoto. The other two have more specific uses. This seems to be the best 'general' lens to keep on the camera. I may add a lens or two in the future, but first I have to learn to use what I have. That is going to take a while to do, so I'm in no hurry to add more lenses.
We may be weak, or maybe we have medical problems that don't allow us to carry a heavy camera and lens combination. I tried a friend's FF camera (pro model but I don't remember which one) with an FX lens on it and it was just too heavy for me to be comfortable holding it steady. Therefore, when I went to upgrade my camera, I chose the D500. Since I don't enlarge any of my photos very large (except one and that one had Photoshop work done on it to make it look more like a painting), I shouldn't notice the difference. Where I might find a difference is when I heavily crop a photo and then enlarge just the one part, but I can live with it. Photography for me is a fun hobby that I will do more of when I finally decide to retire (again - did it once and didn't like it so I went back to work).
Learning my new D500. I've used Nikon before, but this one has a lot more bells and whistles on it. Also learn more about my lenses. I've used them all and I have a use for all three, just more practice. I'm still working, going to try for two more years. I was retired but I hated it. Working has afforded me the option to buy the new camera equipment that will last me for as long as I can shoot. I have some books on digital photography and the D500 specifically that I need to read. I'm thinking of taking a class at the local camera shop. I learn better when something is explained verbally to me rather than reading it. Most of all, I want to get out and take more photos. I think my cat is getting tired of modeling for me!
There are a number of reasons I went with the new D500. One was the initial cost of the camera and the lenses I wanted to buy. As it was I still spent about $6000 on camera, lenses and flash. On top of that I bought extra batteries, filters, etc. I know I could have gotten a FF camera and a lens for the about the same amount of money, but I couldn't have gotten 3 lenses. The other and the main reason I bought the D500 was weight. The FF cameras and the lenses that go with them are just too heavy for me to use. The D500 and one of the lenses I bought is about as heavy as I can handle. I was shooting a Nikon D5200 before, so you can see this is a definite upgrade. It will do all that I can possibly handle. I'm never going to upgrade to a FF camera, so I don't worry about getting DX lenses. It just made the most sense for me. Now all I have to do is learn the camera. That is going to take all of my spare time, since I still work.
I didn't intend to post this request for information in this section. Not quite sure what I did wrong. I'm fairly new to the forum and have not learned my way around it yet.
Does anyone have any experience with a portable Doxie photo scanner? I have a large number of old photos that I want to digitally share with my kids. I don't have the space for a bigger scanner.
Love the cat shots. I just got a new Nikon D 500 and I'm taking lots of shots of my cat who I think is getting tired of being a model. Cats are my favorite subject. I used to go to cat shows with a friend who shows Tonkinese but we moved away from each other. I don't have the opportunity to photograph cats like I used to. I missed that.
I know what you mean about mobility be an issue. I just bought a new Nikon D 500 and several lenses for it. I figured that this investment would motivate me to get out more. Now, just hoping my back holds out.
Welcome aboard
