The Canon has a much longer zoom, 50X vs. 24X, better video and a more rapid burst and better picture quality. The Canon is a better bridge camera.

I'll second that. I recently bought t he SX50 after a lot of research and soul searching. For me it came down to the SX50 or the Panasonic FZ200. Both Cameras have their pros and cons, but for me, it come down to the super-zoom of the SX50 and the IS that had rave reviews. I'm sure the FZ200 is also a great camera, but I'm very satisfied with the SX50. I would recommended to anyone looking for a great bridge camera.

The viewfinder could be clearer but I use the LCD most of the time so that hasn't been big issue for me (yet)

Excellent! Are you enjoying your new super-zoom? There are many of us of UHH, including me, who think it packs quite a wallop for the price :)

Yes, I'm very happy with this camera! I have a 7D but wanted something lighter and smaller to use as sort of a grab-and-go camera. After researching all over the net (including UHH) I settled on the SX50. The only thing I wish it had is a better f-stop. The Panasonic FZ200 (I think) has only a 30x zoom, but f2.8 across the full zoom! Other than that, this fits my needs perfectly.

Nothing special. I just decided to try a moon shot last night with my new Canon SX50

I am not expert, but after much research to find the right Bridge to supplement my 7D, I landed with the Canon SX50. Is it the best possible camera I could have bought for a "grab-and-go" bridge? I don' know, but it was the best I could find at my price point. I am very happy with it.

By accident, I discovered a little trick (which some of you may already know) for selecting photos in iPhoto 11. I am in the process of exporting/importing photos from iPhoto to LR5. I am doing one "iPhoto Event" at a time. The normal way to select all the photos in a specific event is to click the mouse at the upper left and drag to enclose all the photos of interest in a rectangle. This will select everything it the selection rectangle.

In the process of doing this, I found that sometimes, I would select all the photos in an event at once as soon as I clicked my mouse, but I was not sure how I was doing this. I looked at the Apple support page regarding photo selection:

http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2345?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

But this page did not describe what I was doing. Anyway, I figured out finally that, if you click on the date range in an event header, it will select all the photos in that event. Say you have an event with a header (title) : "At the Zoo" Apr 28, 2001 - Jun 11, 2001. If you click on the date range "Apr 28, 2001 - Jun 11, 2001" all of the photos in that event will be selected.

Not a huge discovery, but I was apparently doing this on occasion with our realizing that is what I was doing to cause all pics in a event to be selected. I thought it interesting that on Apple's support page about selecting photos, they didn't mention this rather more efficient method.

You can pick up Lightroom 5 and Photoshop on their website for $9.99/month.

That's what I did recently. Considering you get LR and PS and Bridge, plus more, it's not a bad deal. Also, they have some very good tutorials on all their products.

He must number his episodes differently for Podcasts, I subscribe to his Podcast, but even the latest is only episode 153.

I just got Dropbox and dropped videos into it and sent to my daugher. They were too big for email. It worked like a charm! She does not have Dropbox so I sent the link to her. If she had Dropbox, we both could "drop" photos, files, etc, in it and just go to it anytime.
I also have Flickr...click on my link here (below) and you will get an idea of what that looks like.
Good luck.

I use Dropbox also. Much better way to ensure that only those you wish to see your photos/videos can have access. I don't like Facebook and refuse to go near it (personal reasons I won't bore you with)

Ditto Dropbox. I use it often to exchange pictures with a friend.

Thanks, the V600 looks interesting. The V700 is probably out of my price range however. How fast does this V600 scan?

Thanks a lot Basil, This was a shot that I origenaly dismissed and passed over for other shots in the set as it was lacking contrast and detail, Fortunately I always shot in RAW and liked the composition and decided to spend a bit of time and see if it could be rescued. I sorted out and lifted most of the underlying information in the image with PSE12 Raw converter and followed that with work in Layers on the highlights in PSE12, so yes I lifted the highlights in the grass and fence posts. I think in all I used 32 layers in the process.

Thanks again Geoff

You certainly did a nice job! Would be something I'd frame and hang on the wall.
