What was so shocking, especially when it is compared to the death of someone else recently in the news?

A Man named Harold, and a president named Barack. ... (show quote)

See attached article from the Washington examiner. Most of your post is based on garbage information. It should be noted that the Washington Examiner newspaper was no friend of President Obama.

It’s true that neither President Obama or Vice President Joe Biden attended the funeral of Major General Greene. However, the secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, did attend the funeral and met with the family.

There is no information available to validate that President Nixon attended The funeral of Major General Dillard who was killed when his helicopter was shot down in Vietnam. Additionally, President George W. Bush did not attend the funeral of Lieutenant General Timothy Maude who was killed in the attack on the Pentagon on 9/11. So much for the tradition of President attending the funerals of flag officers killed in combat or while on duty.

Finally, President Obama did not order that the flag be lowered to half staff upon the death of Whitney Houston. However, Governor Chris Christie did order that the state flag of New Jersey be lowered to half staff upon the death of Whitney Houston. Yes, that Governor Christie.

A little research would have shown most of your posting to being pure BS.

Katrina happened on George W. Bush’s watch. Katrina happened well before Obama took office.

Nice try.

Hallowed ground. I was unaware that there was a national cemetery in Beaufort. I was also therefore unaware that 14,000 heroes were buried there.

I have to get myself down to the low country soon.

Thanks for the pictures. Very evocative and helps to tell the tale of the horrors of war.

Imho & ymmv, of course.

I’ve heard of IMHO but I never heard of the acronym YMMV (your mileage may vary) until now.

I have already learned something new today.

Thanks!!!

Reagan had NO power to tax. The house and Senate were all democrat. Guess you missed that history lesson.
President can't tax.

Well, thank you for the civics lesson.

There is just one problem. In 1983, the house was in fact controlled by the democrats. However, the republicans controlled the senate. The bill to begin the taxing of social security (among other things) was approved by both the democratic congress and the republican senate. Reagan then signed off on the bill. He could have vetoed the bill and let the senate and congress try to override the veto but he did not. Reagan then owned the tax increase.

The bottom line is that if you talk about the Reagan tax cuts, you must also talk about the Reagan tax increases. A Republican President was the first one to tax social security benefits. Look it up.

I guess you missed that part of the history lesson.

You are absolutely wrong.

Really?

Taxation of social security benefits began under the administration of Ronald Reagan in the 1983-1984 timeframe. That is a fact.

Payments into social security from workers paychecks has never been an allowable tax deduction. The original law passed under a democratic president did not provide for such a deduction. That is a fact.

Sorry that these facts do not fit your narrative.

Fake news. A little basic research would show that postings similar to this have been circulating for years. It was fake news then; it remains fake news.

The Big Sky Country has no Sales Tax. I knew a guy who was from Billings. He never mentioned that. Since Montana is not a densely populated State, one would think that Sales Tax would be necessary?

There are five states in the United States that do not have a sales tax. Montana is one of them.

Senate approval is not required for pence to assume the presidency in the event something happens to trump. For example, Ford automatically became President when Nixon resigned in 1974.

Andrew Johnson was tried in the Senate, as was Bill Clinton. However, neither was convicted. President Johnson survived by one vote; President Clinton survived by a tie vote on one charge, and an outright acquittal on the second.

A two thirds majority vote is required in the Senate to remove a president from office. In Clinton’s case, 67 votes to convict were required to remove Clinton from the presidency. The 50 votes to convict Clinton on one of the charges fell 17 votes shy of the required 67 votes. Clinton was therefore acquitted on both charges.

In Johnson’s case, the vote to convict was 35-19 (27 states eligible to vote as the Confederate states Dad not been readmiited to the senate at the time of the vote). A 2/3rd majority was required to convict so Johnson avoided conviction by one vote.
