Took a photo of this barn and field along the roadside, upstate New York. When I got home on my computer I saw it was out of focus.
Kinda' like it though, interesting colors almost looks like a painting.
Maybe I'm on to something here?...Out of focus photo's for sale?...lol

For some strange reason every time I see Bill Gates I click on to see what he has to say.
He warned us twice about virus/disease in the past and for the most part was ignored.
Put nuclear arms on the back burner, disease may be our biggest problem in the future....

You can't go wrong almost anywhere in CP.

The North Woods has some scenic water and a small waterfall, bridges, etc.

Nice, thank you. I knew it's been done before...lol.

The park's website - http://www.centralparknyc.org/ - has a lot of information and an interactive map. Just plan out a route based on what you would like to see. You should be able to do it within a day. The park isn't that big.

Thank you....

Hello,
I have been to NYC several times taking photographs but have only been on the southern tip of Central Park.
Strawberry Fields is the farthest north I have ever been. I want to go to Central Park this Fall hopefully on a nice day and peak foliage.
I am trying to figure out "my plan" and the best way to spend my time efficiently to photograph as much of the park as I can.
I see online there are many options esp. tours. I figure I may be good for 4/5 hours of walking then probably start slowing down (tired).
I don't mind paying someone who really knows where they are going. I could always plan my own tour but hopefully not spend too much time wandering in the wrong directions.
Central Park is big, no doubt. Guess it may take 2 days to really accomplish everything. I am going for one day.
Just looking for opinions/input from members?...What do you think is the best way to approach this?
Thanks.

Call Adobe...I did on an issue and they were very helpful. They sent me a new link to download Lightroom when I needed to reload it....
Their contact phone # was on their web site... I bought Lightroom 6 outright, no subscription.

It can be done, I've done it twice with the stand alone LR. Post replies or send me a PM as you run the process for any questions / problems.

Thanks a lot. I'll see what I can do with it, crossing my fingers for luck....

Moving LR and probably Affinity is more complex than just copying files from the old computer.

Regarding LR, and probably Affinity, you need to:

1. Assure you have the install files. If you don't / don't remember, go to the Adobe site and download the install file from there. You'll need an Adobe user name and password and the software serial number. If you've done this in the past, they'll be there today. Otherwise, open a support chat with Adobe and get this information and download the install file.

2. Use an external HD that you can share between the old and new computers. Copy the "Lightroom Catalog.LRCAT" file and all your existing image files onto the HD.

3. On the new computer, install the LR software and assure all the point-release maintenance updates are applied. Once the software is running but "empty" of any images, close LR and replace the LRCAT file with the file copied from the old computer. At the same time, copy all your old image files into the same position on the new computer.

4. Reopen LR again on the new computer and everything should be as it was on the old computer relative to LR.

4a. If you created any presets like Develop or Export, you need to find these files from the old computer that are located in your "user profile" folders. Use Edit / Preferences / Presets inside LR to find the presets location on the old computer. Copy those old files to the new computer.

OK, thanks for keeping me out of trouble. Somehow I knew it was not going to be that easy...

Currently I have Lightroom and Affinity Photo in my laptop. These are not under a subscription. I just purchased them outright.
My laptop is getting old and just started beeping nonstop the other night. I think that was a courtesy call, the motherboard is getting tired.
It is time to buy a new computer. I went online to see how to move both of these programs to a new computer.
As anticipated I was met with long drawn out gymnastics on how to do it. I went back to my desktop and just right clicked on the lightroom icon. It gave an option to " send to, copy."

It appears all I have to do is send it to my external hard drive and then send it from there to the new computer. I am not concerned about all my photos they are all backed up in multiple places.

What do you think? It looks that easy, right click and just move it....

Affinity photo is a standalone program although it also integrates well with affinity designer and affinity publisher and even shares some tools between them.

Affinity photo can also host a lot of photoshop plugins e.g nik collection and topaz.

Affinity photo does not do anything with 3d modeling or 3d printing or allow you to edit and color grade movies, which photoshop can do.

It can generate LUTs which can be used to color grade your video footage in something like davinci resolve ...

To be fair photographers use just a fraction of whats available in photoshop and affinity photo is able to match pretty much everything thats in photoshop that you would use.Thats pretty much true of most photo editors.

It's a shame Adobe has killed off Lightroom standalone but there is still Bridge and they give that away for free. That may be an alternative for lightrooms organisational abilities. I would still miss Lightroom thou.

After watching several reviews on Affinity I went ahead and purchased it for a one time $50.
I still plan on using my Lightroom.
Affinity may or may not be the Photoshop killer, but for my needs it provides me with plenty of tools for what I need to do.
I was also very pleased that they provide a very well organized and complete tutorial page which appears to describe every function in video form, all in one place....

Photoshop is essential if you are using flash. You will inevitably get reflections that can only be fixed by taking a second image with the flash at a different angle, taking the reflection out, but leaving you or your flashhead in the picture. You will need to select the two images, then send to PS as layers and mask-layer out the reflection. If you are only doing HDR you won't need PS but HDR can look rather strange in some situations and won't work well enough to bring outside detail from windows. If you are serious about real estate you must have Photoshop in your workflow.

Yes, there was one wow moment to me when the photographer walked into the picture with hand-held flash and then removed himself from the photo. Looks tricky. I have more work to do...
