Often when I'm out on hikes or in my yard I like to concentrate on seeing the patterns and designs found in nature. Whether its frost on a window, patterns in a spiderweb, shapes of plants, animal tracks in snow or mud, the play of shadow and sun on water.....I'm sure you can come up with some great shots. Looking forward to seeing what you creative folks produce.

Here's a few curvy things I have come across:

A few from the files.

Have been using a monopod with three legs. It's still not stable as a tripod, but it has improved my keeper ratio. I like it.

Well, orange is the new black.

The color was not adjusted.

We have not had much color this year in SW Ohio, so I am posting an image from 2008. A recent UUH discussion prompted me to apply some PE filters and I kinda liked the result.

Here's an IBIS at 187 mm, but with a 1.6 crop it's about 300 mm.

#1 & #4 are my favorites. I think the fewer/more complementary colors work best.
Good work.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Here is an interior shot. The small door to the right is interesting in that adjacent wood pieces have the grain going in different directions - makes the door less susceptible to battering in. Andrews was a real student of Norman architecture.

Have been meaning to visit the Loveland castle near Cincinnati for years. Built by Harry Andrews using creek stone and milk carton concrete bricks between 1929 and his death in 1981 at the age of 91. I found his story to be compelling. He was one of 7000 soldiers stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey to contract meningitis at the outbreak of WWI and one of only two to survive it. He had been pronounced dead and was revived on the post mortem table by a direct injection of adrenaline to the heart. The army did not straighten out his records although he served as a corpsman in France. On returning home, his sweetheart had married after the army notified her of his death. The army also denied his military pension.

Well worth a look.

Some promising work with MDMA (ecstasy). Shame it's been abused as a party drug.
