My wife and I are taking a cruise to Alaska next week and are trying to figure out what camera to take. We are both amatours but have a lot of reading material. I have a Canon T2i with EFS 18-135 kit lens and EF 50mm, 1.8 lens and a Canon SX500IS. My wife carrys her Panasonic DMC-TS3, which she loves. Since I'm not know for making smart purchase decisions, I was also looking at buying a Canon SX50?????
My camera knowledge would probably limit shooting in Auto or Program and play with the ASA setting. Keeping in mind weight concerns and camera ease of use, what would you hogs recomment.

I've got a Pentax K500 and a Sigma EF610 DG Super flash and have been looking at a way of using Hi-speed off-camera flash... which doesn't appear to be possible using the "wireless" mode.. I bought an extension cable which does facilitate it.. but the cable is way too short and limits the distance between the camera and the flash and there doesn't appear to be a longer one available.. My question is.. would it be feasible to connect 2 or maybe 3 of these short cables together and the system would still function or is the fact that a longer cable not being available mean that the length of the cable is critical..

I'm posting this information about H.L. Mencken to make a point; my point being, that I'll bet $3 to 6 do-nuts that there aren't very many people on the UHH Chit-Chat Forum that
A. Have even heard of H.L. Mencken before

B. Have the slightest idea who H.L. Mencken was, what he did, or "where he did it"

C. Or will even give a rat's patootie about H.L. Mencken, now that I have posted this useless and I'm guessing, completely uninteresting information about the life & times of H.L. Mencken.

Several days ago, after I had posted a thread about something of current interest to the majority of the "intelligent", "thoughtful" and "normal" people on the forum, one of our usual suspects, (GeorgeH ), made a post, (as liberal trolls always do ), pointing out that H.L. Mencken had said "this" and "that", (all of which was the usual liberal nonsense ), and I answered GeorgeH by saying essentially the same thing that I'm still saying, that I doubt if many have even heard of H.L. Mencken, and even those who have heard of him, probably don't "give a damn" what H.L. Mencken "said".

It seems that the libs have decided that anyone who uses the word "patriot", or anyone who thinks that "patriotism" is a "good thing", has suddenly "aroused the indignation and ire" of the "far left nut-jobs", (who are so fond of calling all normal, thinking people "right-wing nut-jobs"! )

When I pointed all of this out to GeorgeH, he did exactly what all libs always do, he characterized what I pointed out to him as being a "rant"! To be perfectly truthful, I feel ever so slightly "bad" about using GeorgeH as my example in all of this, because as libs "go", there are DOZENS of them blathering about on the Chit Chat Forum who make poor old GeorgeH look like a "boy scout"! (boy scouts being an example of "good" )

I'm now guessing that since I've posted this short bio about H.L. Mencken, there will no doubt be a sudden resurgence of interest and adulation of H.L. Mencken among the "far left wing nut-jobs". As always, my best; Gitzo

H.L. Mencken was born on September 12, 1880, in Baltimore, Maryland. He became a writer and editor at The Baltimore Sun, penning a celebrated column. Concurrent with his work for The Sun, Mencken edited The Smart Set magazine and started The American Mercury. During the 1940s, he published three memoirs. After a stroke forced his retirement in 1948, he could no longer read or write and died a lonely man several years later.
