We all have our quirks and preferences. If I don't like the terms, I don't get bent over it but I do not go forward with the transaction.

I DO NOT USE PAYPAL, been there and done that since they began and stopped after their rates became unreasonable. Even when I was buying and selling on ebay, I preferred US Postal money orders or cash in person, both for purchase and sales.

It comes down to personal preference and faith in the other party. I have sent cash and money orders with no great losses. The cost of a DVD movie was lost to a turd on ebay. From members here I have received personal checks and money orders. A US Postal money order is pretty easy to use. When the MO is received take the prepackaged box to the post office, cash the MO and mail the product. I know, some people think everyone is a crook but themself.

[quote=infin8truths]Purchased new in March 2017, and is covered by Applecare until March 2020.

With tax and Applecare was over $2800, not to mention the $1800 in software, so I think $2200 is fair. I'm willing consider reasonable offers, but I will not respond to lowball.

Cash Only. No Trades, no credit cards, no paypal, no wire transfers, no cashiers checks, no partial payments, no scams. Would prefer local sale in San Diego as that's where I'm located. If you're not local and are a serious buyer we can discuss how to work something out, but know upfront I will not ship it anywhere without full payment received and cleared first, and I will not ship outside US. Sorry to seem so serious, but there are just too scams out there, and I won't risk being burned.

This is the information provided by the OP. Why are some members here adamant in smearing the poster of the ad? What do you gain by voicing your negativity?

Like I said, we have each other's backs here on the Hog. That's what separates us from the "other" sites you mentioned. You're certainly entitled to your opinion but so are we and if that's a problem for you then no one is forcing you to return.

Yes we all have our opinions. Do you have a problem with people for the sole reason they have differing opinions? Are you willing to push good and decent people away because they have a more objective vision? The OP who posted this for sale ad could be one of two types.

For this demonstration I will accept yours and some others assertions that the poster is a scammer. What member of this site or any other would wrap up a couple thousand dollars cash, place in an envelope and mail off to San Diego? If in fact there was a member inclined to do so and you called a scammer out which saved the member the loss of hard earned cash, good for. No harm and no foul. You are the hero of the day.

Now consider this. A person has a legitimately owned property and would like to post the for sale ad here. You or someone else calls out the unsubstantiated “scammer” word. You or someone else has committed slander. Is slander acceptable in your community? So, the possible sale from this ad never takes place. Now there has been harm done to the chance of sale and the ad poster’s credibility. Two fouls.

In the case of a scammer, I say good riddance. In the second case, how can you or another member be so dense as to push away a potential friendship. This person could have some valuable future contributions for this communities benefit. I for one, will not tell a lie, cheat or steal. I can be successful the good old fashioned and honorable way, but, I will not do business with paypal. Did that in the early days and found their rising fees too much for my taste. Does that make me a scammer?

Sorry but if you can't see that something was off on the ad then you have your head deep in the sand.

A recent membership or your paranoia proves nothing. There is no evidence to find this person guilty of being a scammer. Could they be? Yes. What I see is a person who could be a scammer or possible asset to this forum, but they are probably now gone with the wind. Prefering to deal local and in cash is pretty common for many online transactions. That does not mean a scam being hatched.

You are a member of this community, yes? Do you also jump in people's faces the first time you meet them in your "real" community? Mature adults don't jump to baseless conclusions.

Oh, so it's ok for the seller to not trust us but we should kick common sense reasoning out the door and trust him implicitly.

The seller posted and ad with their preferences. It is up to a sincere purchaser to discuss terms and either come to an agreement or not. Mature adults do this quite often.

What some members posted here could possibly get them laid out and bleeding if it had been said in person. If you posted an ad on any website and a handful of goobers came to your thread with flames, would you be angry? There is nothing from the OP's post that would justify the slanderous remarks made in this thread.

This is the only website that I frequent that allows such poor behavior in its classifieds. None come anywhere close to the abusive nature of some of these members here. Go take a look around: Fred Miranda, Nikonians, DPReview, Nikonites, Pentaxforums or any other.

Another want ad taken out and around, such childish behavior. With no substanial evidence you silly baggers claim this person has no honor and is a scammer. Skepticism is one thing but to slander a persons' reputation is another. You have no reason to make such statements and yourselves should be banned from this website. The seller prefers to meet in person to negotaite and make a cash sale. I too like to protect myself when selling online. Dirty minds have dirty thoughts. There are many good and honest people weather you believe it or not. A purchaser has many ways to protect themselves during an online negotiation and transaction. How about trying to be more civil and pick up some manners in keeping your nose in your own business.

Right off, I am not interested in buying this camera, however, if I were in the market for a Nikon D500, I would not touch this one, nor would I recommend it to anyone, due to the serial number having been blacked out. I have bought and sold numerous items on UHH, and have never run across a blacked out serial number.

Also, generally the only place you find "turds", and those who use that term, in UHH is in the attic! 😃

For those who have pm'd me with questions, I have responded honestly which is my only way. I would in no way consider selling out my honor for a bogus deal of any nature. I too have used this websites' buy/sell/trade section for all but the trade aspect. You will find no postings claiming negative actions on my part.

Those members who bring negativity into a thread are pathetic. There is no honor in your behavior. It is a buy/sell/trade section, NOT A COMMENTS AND DISCUSSION section.

I will state again, THE LABEL ON THE BODY HAS NOT BEEN MARKERED OVER. The blackout was done to the image with a clone brush in pp software and I explained my reasoning for doing such. This equipment has been in a smoke free home. What is a perfectly good camera body and accompanying accessories at a fair price has now been labeled worthless by DavidPhares. If you had read the original posting David, I stated up front that the body is a U.S. model. If the turd fits David.............

So, you are saying that if someone claims the camera is theirs by registering the number and later down the road the holder of the camera sends it to Nikon for service there will be no issues?

Bottom line is this, I masked out the number for the reason I stated. If that doesn't fit your life, ok.

Gotta love this site's buy/sell/trade section. Go through the ads posted and see how many are sent off course or tainted by members who have no intention of making a purchase.

Thank you for your interest in this ad.

If you registered the camera, it is a simple matter to delete the owner ship of that camera, thus allowing the new owner to register the camera. I've done that several times with no problem. I believe, but can't prove, that Nikon database will flag duplicate numbers.

That is a good point. However, that does not eliminate possible issues with the new bonafide owner if a turd has hijacked and registered that serial number.

Just to be clear, the label on the body of this camera was not blacked out, just the image was painted over in pp software.

For anyone who has serious interest, please feel free to contact me through the private message feature.

The reasoning for blacking out the serial number of an unregistered Nikon camera prevents someone without morals from registering the camera in their name and creating an issue for me and the buyer.

I am selling this camera because that is what I choose to do.

Now I have a question. Why do you feel the need to create negativity within someone's for sale posting?
