I prefer to believe scientists who are not influenced by political money that aren’t afraid of being punished for their honesty.

That would be 99.5% of the REAL climate scientists that work for Universities, National Labs, NOAA, NASA, NCDC (National Climatic Data Center), NCAR (National Climate & Atmospheric Research), who have the best tools in the world at their disposal. I’m guessing that you don’t realize that after nuclear energy, the next largest use of supercomputers in the world is climate modeling. These people are academics, not political hacks like the 0.5% you’ve based your post on who are trying to make $ pn selling conspiracy theories.

Honestly, I’m finding it hard to believe that a rational person believes these conspiracy theories instead of the vast majority of the world’s scientists. Try going to sites like NOAA and NASA that actually have the REAL data, directly from satellites that I posted above. How do you explain those FACTs? One big conspiracy among all the world’s scientists? Do you really believe that?

What a bunch of baloney... An official who WE elected said the Eclipse was caused by climate change... Another long term lifer in congress said the moon was primarily gaseous.. We have to LISTEN to our ELECTED reps. whom we have faith in to lead us...

Better to listen to scientists at NOAA, NASA, NCDC, NCAR, etc. who actually have the facts and the education/experience to analyze them

Be sure to eject that thumb drive before removing - ExFAT is very vulnerable to corruption compared to a more robust file system such as NTFS.

Not anytime soon. Many users are running Win 7 (~15 years old) and browsers are running just fine. The big change that made XP browsers obsolete was the move from http to https which required SSL and TSL as part of the OS

Kodak is strong on the thermal printing area. I wanted a dye sub printer but people don't buy them and after a while when the printer is discontinued the manufacturers don't sell supplies any more. I can't use ink jet because I don't print often (as won't print anything with inkjet except photos) and I just basically let the ink dried out and wasting ink to clean the clogged print heads.

A Canon Pro 100/200 will solve that problem. I often go many months without turning the printer on - never an issue.

I kept my Canon FF system, but opted for a Fuji X-T4 for travel. APS-C was as small a sensor as I was willing to go in terms of low light/high ISO performance.

Consider yourself fortunate. Now don't get me wrong. I love my GS350 so much that we've put a lot of money into repairs. One of the recurring problems has been a rattle across the front of the dash. This was apparent early. They removed the dash and put in insulation. So far the dash has been removed four times for this problem. It's back again. Once it was out of warranty it was a $750 repair. I said in my previous post that instead of REPAIRING the rattle in our glove box a couple of years ago, which after fifteen years was understandable, they merely put in insulation tape. Now the rattle is back. The never fixed it. The never fixed the dash. We may have been unlucky, but we had an oil leak at about 135,000 mile that required an engine overhaul. Everything included, that was $9,000 bucks. They tried to talk me into a trade, but I knew how well the car ran otherwise. Now we've bought a brand new RV 500h, 75K, with a rattle in the dash that they don't fix correctly. Sorry, Trix, I'm not impressed by the dealer's repair department. Finally, a couple of months ago, I was driving down one of our residential streets an the new car just stopped. I took it in but despite running all of their diagnostics they couldn't find a problem. Sorry, Trix, you may have gotten lucky. We didn't. I don't know whether to trust his vehicle or not.

Sorry to hear that - how did an oil leak require a $9,000 engine overhaul?

…Full frame and sports do not mix well = Lots of $$$$ and lots of weight - especially for indoor.

With all due respect, that is a ridiculous assertion. If you believe that FF and sports do not mix well, then you have never shot low light indoor sports and apparently also have never watched professional Sports shooters work. It was indoor sports that drove me from a 7D2 to a 5D3 and 5D4. That extra stop of high ISO performance is golden and can be traded for double the SS. Yes, a FF is typically heavier, but thats the price for good results.

Dude, You do not understand - the EXTENDER will slow the AF irregardless of the f-stop or the light ..... especially because the 300 f4 IS is so old and not a series II lens AND, because the Tamron is a MUCH newer lens than the Canon 300 f4 - even at f6.3 the Tamron will probably have better AF - of course I cannot prove this - but I cannot dis-prove it either - and, neither can you. One thing for sure, the Tamron will be easier/lighter to manage.

The weight difference is trivial (55 grams) and even with the extender the difference is minor. As far as IQ, I’d take the older L series prime from Canon over a 4:1 zoom from Tamron any day regardless of age - many of the older L series primes are great glass . At 300mm, it’s ~1-1/2 stops faster and at 420, it’s still ~ half a stop faster. As far as 1 stop from the extender making a noticeable difference in AF speed, I don’t buy that - it’s a little faster than the classic 300 f2.8L which is a great sports lens. Plus the poster already has the 300.

I have a 2007 Lexus GS350 which I've had serviced by the dealer since it went out of warranty. Lexus is basically a high end Toyota. In the past I've not had good luck with other repair shops. However, the dealer must be using golden tools for the hourly rate it charges. I'm not too happy with what I get for that, either. 2-3 years ago I paid quit a bit to have the rattle in the glove box repaired. Now that it's back I've found out that all they did was put insulation tape in to silence the rattle, but it didn't fix it and now it's back. We bought a new Lexus RX 500 H last year. It has a rattle in the speedometer which I brought to the dealer's attention. A tech found the rattle on a test drive but when he pushed on the speedometer it went away. NOT. And I get these surveys after service wanting glowing reports of the service that I've received. Now they've stopped sending the surveys because they know I'm not happy.

We’re on our 3rd Lexus since 1993 - this one is 16 years old and NOTHING has ever failed. I used the dealer on all 3 until out of warranty, and I couldn’t have been happier. These are great automobiles. IMHO, Toyota is making the best cars in the world.

I’ll just mention on this “Zombie” thread that Toyota (and every other new car I’ve owned) does reccommended changing the brake fluid periodically. Personally other than oil/filter, tires, brake pads, battery and wiper blades (which is the bare minimum), I recommend changing the coolant, brake fluid and ATF every 60k miles. It’s also not a bad idea to change the plugs, not because it will make any difference in performance (due to modern ignition), but so they won’t corrode into the aluminum head. Proactively, I also change the serpentine belt maybe at 75-80K and keep the old one, if not cracked, in the trunk, along with a wrench to relieve the pressure on the tensioner to change it - that’s one of those things that can potentially leave you on the side of the road. Same with radiator/heater hoses >100K/10-12 years. All this assumes you plan to keep the car for quite awhile rather than run it slowly into the ground.

It’s a 300mm 1:4 L IS. Boy I would love this prime to go further, especially with football! My pics are better earlier in the season because of available light. With the progression of the Fall season, I lose the light fairly early and our stadium is old and outdated with insufficient field lights. I continually adjust my settings and do occasionally get a good pic but always delete a bunch. I’ll research this 2x converter. I am not familiar with it but will enjoy learning about it.

I’d certainly also consider the 1.4x EXII or III as well - only 420mm but also only 1 stop of light lost (f5.6) vs 2 stops and f6.8 for the EX 2.0 if low light can be an issue for you. Both are compatible with your 300mm f4

I just want to keep old things working. I do service old machines. Sometimes the factory I used to work for need my help fixing their DOS and Win95 machine working. They pay me OK. But mainly I like to keep things working. If something breaks I junk it. But I hate to see things in perfect condition throwing away.
I can try the card on another machine but at this point I am quite sure that it's the card limitation.

Not the bios for the workstation needs update. The bios for the SATA interface card needs update. But oh well, since Adaptec doesn't release the update I will pass. Don't need it any way.

Maybe, maybe not. The test would be to try the card and drive in a later machine (if you have one, care enough, and there’s a driver available)

Here’s the question: why are you running an XP machine? To support legacy SW or HW?
