This has bothered me ever since I realized that fact.

I've had my Rolleiflex for 50 years now, love it. Picked up a Hasselblad CM500 with a wide, normal and telephoto lens last year but have been to busy with a remodel to play with it. Grew up with my Aunt shooting weddings and portraits with her CM500 and always wanted one and now between having more money and their price dropping, I have one.

Got a partial eclipse shot last year that I didn't think I was going to get by going out and looking despite heavy cloud cover. Discovered that the clouds got thin enough, every once in a while and I got this shot, I was not in the path but still managed a partial with no solar filter.

I wouldn't count on weather predictions for months from now about clear skies.

All our current problems can be traced back to when Reagan closed the "Mental" hospitals and dumped them into the communities where the police became the defacto caregivers, leaving no time to fight real crime.

I drove down to Kentucky for the 2017 and photographed it. This one is going right over my house, I just have to walk out the back door this year.

It is the fog of ages, nothing has changed, there have been youth problems going back in history. When we were younger, we didn't pay attention to and didn't have the exposure to all the news we do today. West side story was a about lawless youth, Romeo and Juliet was about lawless youth.

There is only one reason I've made it around that glowing orb in the sky is luck. I'm 64 and my only regret is I didn't get into more trouble.

Sorry, but this doesn't apply to people. Small dogs with long snouts tend to live longer that flat-faced dogs. That seems to be true in my experience.

Smaller dogs with long noses, like miniature dachshunds and shiba inus, live the longest, according to an analysis of over 580,000 dogs in the UK. After studying data from various sources, including vets, pet insurance companies and animal welfare charities, researchers found that small, long-nosed dogs of both sexes had the highest life expectancy, surviving 13.3 years on average. With an expected lifespan of just 9.1 and 9.6 years old, male and female medium-sized, flat-faced dogs had the worst outcomes, respectively. “Many flat-faced breeds, small or large, don’t do well, for example French bulldogs, St Bernards and presa canarios,” says Kirsten McMillan at Dogs Trust, a welfare charity in the UK.

I know with big dogs the limiter is the heart, it didn't grow in step with size and now has to work harder to get the blood around the bigger dogs.

Two nights ago I did a gig at a Chamber of Commerce event at a very high end community center. I was hired by the chamber, as was a social media guy, and a video guy. There was also an independent person taking photos. What we all had in common (and this has never happened before!) was we were all using Sony equipment. Now I know this will ruffle the gentle feathers of so many on this blog, but the reality is that market share is everything, and I as a Sony shooter am even amazed at how much is changing in the professional sphere. Years ago it was rare to find a pro shooting Sony, and now it seems that we are the majority. For there to be four image makers at an event and all of them using Sony had me pretty shocked. People vote with their feet and their money, and the other brands have to be on notice to up their game.

Sony was smart buying Minolta, one of the few lens manufactures making their own glass. A high quality manufacture that Leica thought was good enough to make their 500 (I think it was 500) mirror lens. Their current lenses are as good or better than what Nikon and Canon are making and because they jumped on the mirrorless early, they currently have a better selection.

I understand that prime lenses usually offer higher image quality. But given the fact that people use smart phones to take pics these days and quality seems to be good enough, does it even matter that primes offer slight advantage while having major disadvantage of fixed focal length?

Do you still use primes at all? For what purpose?

After I saw the results I was getting from my Sony 70-300 G lens, I never looked back. I started in the '70's and zooms were crap, I had all primes from Canon, 200/2.8, 100/4 macro, 50/1.4, 24/2.8. So far my Sony collections is a Zeiss 35/2.8 for it's size, Zeiss 55 got when I got the a7ii body, the 70-300, an Minolta 50 macro with adapter, and 200-600. The 70-300 is the most used due to it's close focus and it's range. Great hiking lens and can throw the 35 in my pocket for those wider shots.

Round-a-bouts seem to be the big thing around here lately. I think the idea came from Europe? I have no statistics on any safety improvements these intersections provide.

Since they eliminate t-bone, they make a safer intersection and the studies back it. At worst you get a rear end or side swipe accident, much lower casualty rate. Now they are starting to change multi highway crossing, making going straight across by requiring anyone wanting to turn left or cross to instead turn right and go up to a turn around, this also increases safety by eliminating t-bones.

I agree, when manually focusing, I miss the split focus aid. I could manual focus way faster and better with it. I hate the feature that temp gives you a close up because I lose where I'm at, I have been using the feature that highlights the focus edges with a color but I miss the spit circle.

There was a huge difference in sharpness between my Tamron 150-600 and the Sony 200-600 I bought after they came out. DSLR or mirror less makes no difference in sharpness, but lens maker, zoom or prime both make a difference in sharpness.

Nice shot, one of my favorite subjects around my yard. I've fed and watched birds since I was a 11 or so and I've gardened about as long, realized last year how much I must love color when my bird feeder was as colorful as my flower garden. Blues, yellows, reds, and every color in between, really every color that my garden give me. Photography became a natural for me wanting to capture the beauty.
