Well just didn't know whether to sell all my lenses or not. I was really hoping Lumix would come out with a new version of the G9 by now. I really don't want to buy something else - unless they were going to discontinue the 4/3s line. But youre right.... if it ends the camera won't stop working

I have used this camera for the last five years in the worst conditions, (outdoors all day standing by a horse show arena in the weather and dirt) during this time it has been severely abused...dropped, flung out of a golf cart, left out in the rain, sprayed by the water truck, chewed on by dogs.... you name it. It has been a tough little beast. But it is now either time for a new one. Didn't know if I should just sell all my lenses and get something different if Panasonic was not going to continue this product.

What do you think is going to happen with Micro Four Thirds? Do you think Panasonic and Olympus (or whatever it is called now) are going to continue this format? I have a Lumix G9 that I have used for years and LOVE, but it is old and tired - I don't know whether to replace it or not

I am so sad about this news. I am a "camera junkie" and this was the best place to gather info. My only hope is that someone else decides to fill in that gap. But all the information lost there is such a sad waste.

For those who were wanting to know:
go to wrench, file name, change user setting 1, now just type in what you want - it will allow for 4 letters or numbers, then hit ok. Super easy - I was just having a "blonde" moment

OK - I should know how to do this but I can't figure it out. How the heck can I change the file name on my Canon R5 .... I go to Menu, wrench, file name ... but it only gives me 3 weird choices and no way to customize it.

Ok so I did not read all the posts so I may just be repeating.....But I would take a Sony RX100, (any version is fantastic just choose on that fits your needs and budget). It is small and easy. BUT there are 100's of fun choices out there - I also like to travel with Fuji X-S10, Canon SX70, Lumixzs200, and of course if there is water Oly TG6. Have fun trying cameras! And have fun on your trip!!

I love my Sony RX100 VII - there are like said earlier, not the greatest feel in your hand. I sold one once because of that, and regretted it, because no other camera has as good picture quality. So I bought another and added a grip. But it is my go to travel and drunk party camera.
