If I purchased all the preset offers being sent to me, I'd have to take to a mortgage on my house. Everybody and his brother are selling presets, and I am assuming none of them are worth purchasing. I use presets very sparingly, only a very few of those that come with programs.

I have a bunch of presets, all of them obtained for free. However, I don't use them - I'd rather edit on my own.

Pet peeve department. I shave with an electric razor, and use a pre-shave lotion, which helps give a closer shave. There's a plastic plug in the top of the bottle with a hole to limit how much lotion comes out of the bottle. I recently bought a new bottle of the stuff, and noticed that they've made the hole a lot bigger. The result is that too much lotion comes out of the bottle, resulting in wasting a lot of it. That probably is driving sales up this year!

I am sometimes asked, "what is your favorite bird to photograph in South Florida?". I would probably say it's the Snowy Egret, especially when it's in breeding colors. That Bright Red Lore in front of the eye, skirt, and if you get it right, reddish feet.
Here he is at Peaceful Waters in Wellington Florida, a popular spot for them when the water level is ideal for their hunting habits, they can be found in numbers here. Especially fun when the wind whips up that breeding skirt.
Sony a1, Sony 600 f4 @f4, 1/1500 sec. iso 1250. Manual exposure based on a green grass reading and then stopping down 1.5-2.0 stops.

I haven't used the keyboard in question, but I'm not sure the concept is all that helpful. If you have to hunt all over the keyboard to find the function, how is that saving any time? Add in the issue of the hard-to read small text, and I don't think the keyboard is worth 129 bucks.

I have asked myself this recently and I am reading a book that among other things, promises to “ and finish with how to find your purpose in photography.”

That is a bold claim and something I have asked myself more than once. There is no single answer of course, because it is subjective subject.

So I am curious, what do readers here say in response to “What is your purpose in photography?“

As Steve Jobs said, "The journey is its own reward."

Good shooting - I've been out here in central AZ for a long time, and I don't think I've ever seen one.

Kind of reminds me of an old movie in which all the people on earth suddenly disappeared.

Yes, the comment no way 6.14 can see raw files is nonsense. Moving to the subscription plan is a good idea but if one has held out for 6ish years with no updates, support, and Photoshop included it is a waste of time trying to get one to see the light. I suspect anti LrC folks don’t know how it works but…

See above. LR 6.14 won't support newer file formats.

My 6.14 sees my RAW files.

Yes, it can see older Raw formats, such as some Canon Cr2 files, but not, say, CR3 files, HEIF, or Raw files for other current-model cameras. BTW, a work-around would be to convert to DNGs using Adobe's free DNG converter.

I have the same challenge whenever I travel. Two things: First, when you arrive at your destination, sync up all of your cameras to the same date/time. That's never "perfect" but it will certainly help. When after you import your photos into LR, you can sort by Capture Time. THEN....the second part. Using LR, if any photos are out of chronological order, manually re-arrange them. Then use the Lightroom Library -> Rename function and rename them in that order. Then you can sort your photos by file name either within LR or when they're exported. That will maintain your chronological order. It's a bit of a hassle, but it works. One other tip - I setup separate folders for each day I'm traveling. It makes it a bit easier when I'm re-arranging as I can work with 60-80 photos per day vs. 500-1000 for the entire trip.

If you've been shooting in RAW format and are using LR 6.14, there's no way your RAW files will be viewable. 6.14 is over6 years old. Time to upgrade to LR Classic. Then all files will be viewable and sortable. And, for your 10 bucks/month, you'll also get full Photoshop.

It sounds to me like there's a couple of issues here. First, as others pointed out, LR Classic can sort photos about 20 different ways, including by capture time. Second, and maybe this is the key issue, if various cameras are not set to the exact same time, when their photos are combined, many will appear out of sequence. LR Classic has the ability to edit the capture time, as well. Here's an article on the topic: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/premium-classic/metadata/editing-capture-time/.
