Wasn't completely motivated this year but I did find a little time to get the camera out of the bag. Time spent at Delaware and Maryland beaches in July.

You Better You Bet, that's a good shot of The Quiet One. That Face Dances and you used the Trick of the Light to get the capture....must have been around 5:15 when you got the shot. I Won't Get Fooled Again the next time you Fiddle About.

I received a message from Canon yesterday that the firmware update (version 1.1.2) for the 5D IV had finally been released. I've tried several times over the past 24 hours to download it. Cannot connect to their servers. Anyone else having this problem?

I updated last night without a problem.

I think the peak is between mid-February and mid-March. I guess it depends on the winter....when the migration starts and how long they stick around. When I got there, there wasn’t much to see. I decided to park along the road and they just came to me - en masse. That has never happened before when I was there. Right place, right time I guess.

I’d look between its legs, if it were me.

Seriously, with cardinals, the male is bright red and the female has brownish tones, like this one.

I’m not an ornithologist, but I think that is the case with most birds. The more colorful is usually the male while the female is less “flamboyant”.

WOW! Fantastic shots. But not gonna lie, all those birds kinda creep me out! hahaha

Thank you! I wasn’t creeped out, but I did have a “Hitchcock flashback” when they took off straight at me. Pummeled by snow geese would not be a good story.

Yeah, that’s amazing. Peak was actually last month and I didn’t make it there. I was lucky that so many came to the spot near where I was waiting.

Thanks. Although technically not great, I tried to show the chaos. I was about 100' from the field where they gathered and I knew they'd eventually take off....I just wasn't expecting them to take off straight at me. It was spray and pray at that point....I had to duck (no pun) as they did a low altitude fly-by. I could feel the wind from their wings as the passed over. There is one in focus in there....
