Yes have it & it is a very good lens close to primes - make sure to buy the VR-II version
The latest issue of N-Photo differs with your opinion re; 200-500mm Nikon citing the 150-600mm Sigma a better product, which I agree with & am a 50 year Nikon user.
Have the 550 & has performed very well as a scanner.
Think about the 70-300 mm VR-II The quality will surprise you & the price is right- use the $ saved for a wide angle.
Check out the UK publication NPHOTO or CPHOTO? (Nikon or Canon) respectively.
For a light bag look into Think Tank products. I have one that holds a 7100, 70-300 & a 24-80 mm plus & is easy on the body.
I use a EPSON V550 however I use Paperport as an interface with diff. outlets usually with pics go to photo software eg one of Adobe's programs & print thru them.
You might want to check the distance to the subject with this lens. I found it to be too short & found a Sigma 150 mm 2.8 to be better.
The 70-300mm is a full frame lens
Check out the full frame70-300mm VR II ( latest Version) It is sharp & under rated for ~ $ 500 Available Used & Refurbished for less. RSQRD
Where do you find a 70-300mm VR II Nikon for 170 bucks?
Tks for the info. however the price of $650 is more than the original price for the lens when it was initially issued. Good luck
What comes with the lens eg case, hood & Caps?
Are you located in Nordland Wa. or Norway
