Initially, I had intended to post only street images, but eating here is apparently not just eating, but dining. It is taken quite seriously, no rushing allowed. The first two images show what it's like to go out for dinner after sunset, wandering our way through ancient streets to our destinations. The third image shows my favorite spaghetti alla vongole which I use to test the various restaurants across Rome as my appetizer, or primo piatta. And, of course, one must change the taste that lingers with gelato that cannot be duplicated anywhere else.

All youse guys are too nice. Thanks. I love to travel with my camera, and sharing it with you all is one of the pleasures of doing so. At almost 89 years of age, I don't know how much more I can do, but so far, quite good.

I am so happy to avoid carrying rolls and rolls of film. Even though I am only posting "Street" shots, I am taking probably hundreds and hundreds more, including the iconic ones. There is so much history here, so much to shoot.
The first shot was taken from my lap at lunch. This Italian grande dame never stopped talking, so I took the shot to prove that Italians do indeed eat a lot of pasta, which is always al dente, without fail.
Just like in NYC, there are dogs galore. Here, though, maybe half are not leashed; they do not stray from their owners, and seem to be extremely well trained.
The profiled older lady meandered slowly passed my camera, apparently totally oblivious to it practically sticking into her ear.

Buon giorno, i mei amici;
People are people, but still...
The only one that needs a remark is #3; this is a father after iur own hearts. His daughter, still in a stroller, is getting some instruction in camera usage.

My ancient legs...well, that's enough about me.
These mostly people shots I just found interesting as I downloaded today's work.
I think I might've overdone today, but at my age, I doubt if I'll get back here.

We older folks here in the US are familiar with the concept of earlybird specials. That is anathema to the Romans, so much so that the restaurants do not begin accepting reservations until 7 PM. They are not yet on daylight savings time, or whatever they call it here. You do not have to feel sorry for us walking to the restaurant in the dark, where I had the best spaghetti with white clam sauce ever. That's many many decades!

So many old guys here, Mike, but they don't get to see mountains...just tall buildings.

Good series.

While here, all I intended to do was download all of my photographs into daily files, with no editing. Sometimes, the best intentions go astray.
We were able to cross a heavily trafficked alleyway, because the gentleman in the coat was holding up traffic as he exited the van behind him.

Thanks, everyone. Off to Rome tomorrow. Our grandaughter is enduring a 3 rd year semester there, and my wife wants to take her out to dinner a few times, and to show her some favorite spots from her three years there after her own college years.
I might find some interesting things to shoot also. Maybe even something to post.

I found these from 2021 on my travel hard drive.

What I remember about these two photos (from a whole series I took as I was walking back to my car), is that people with cell phones just kept walking past me, seemingly totally ignoring the potential in these images...except for one woman. She asked me if she could see how I framed the shots, who said, "you must know what you're doing, because you have an real camera."

The first two tickled my slightly warped sense of humor, because there could be so many titles one could apply to them. The sunrise shot from my roof lasted like that for just a few seconds.

New York City has timed alternate side of the street parking. There are many signs indicating so, but I guess you have to read them.
The second and third shots were taken within a couple of seconds of each other, with a flick of the wrist.

Well, I was going to say "Mandalay," but I'm just going to leave it out and put in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. If any of you are old enough to know about Kipling and Frank Sinatra, you will have an idea how my brain works.
I left before dawn this morning.
The first shot is on 34th St. looking west through the windshield as I headed towards the Lincoln tunnel. The second shot is near the top of the helix out of the tunnel taken through the passenger side window. You're looking at a small section of NYC. The third is on the New Jersey Turnpike as I passed Newark airport. As you can see from these three shots, we had a cold front go through last night (accompanied by 60+ mile an hour gusts).
The last shot is on the two century old barge canal in Yardley, Pennsylvania. There's some distortion due to a longer lens.

Another great NYC tour, David! #1 does not show a fan of your efforts.

Mike, I don't think she's a fan of anyone's. I rode with her for over 20 blocks on the bus, and her face never changed as she spent the whole time looking at her phone.
