Or buy an R5 and RF100-500 and probably save some money...maybe enough to get an R6 and some other new RF lenses...and with an adapter you can use your existing L lenses...

I have several books of his railroad related photographs...

Every night before I go to sleep, I read a couple of dozen comic strips from the Washington Post on my Kindle. "Zippy" is an odd one, but it's written my a man who was born in Brooklyn and then moved to Long Island, just like me, so I feel an affinity toward him.

In last yesterday's strip, he mentioned his great grandfather, who was a photographer. He was born in 1843, so you can imagine what photography was like back then. I looked for his name online, and quite a bit turned up.

I didn't know there was a World's Fair in San Francisco at the same time as the one in NY, 1939.

Not Any lense...maybe some specific lenses. Just get some extension tubes if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. True macro lenses are not super expensive if you are serious about getting into macro shooting.

Can you elaborate on your idea of 3 different cameras. I primarily use my 1Dx MkII but only consider it one camera or more appropriately camera body...

Photography equipment companies make many different camera bodies but many more different lenses. So far the camera cos. are not agreeing with the folks answering your survey. Canon realizes the value of the camera is more critical than the lens and build their cameras accordingly. When I am carrying my 1 DX I am actually carrying three different cameras. Whatever lens I chose places its characteristics on each of those cameras, not vice versa. Your survey helps explain why most people do not understand the concept of "upgrade" when camera bodies are the subject. Features of cameras are far more critical to the image captured than are the features of lenses.

This is along my thinking too. Though I might go for the 800 f/11 to for birding...

If I had $9500 to spend I'd go with a Canon R5 kit with a 24-105mm f/4 at $5000 then add a 600mm f/11 for birding at $700. That leaves me $3800 for some more glass. Let's see, hmmm, what glass would I get for $3800? Probably a portrait lens, a macro, a nifty fifty and still have some money left over.

Yes every camera is a set of compromises...

Hi everyone this is my first post. I finally started to dig in to my LUMIX zs60. Manual mode, shooting in RAW, etc. I want to move up from a compact camera but still want good built in zoom( I don’t want to carry around a bunch of lenses). I’ve heard a lot of good things about the LUMIX fz300. Any comments on this camera? I know it still has a small sensor but cameras with one inch trade off on the zoom. I’ve come to realize everything with a camera is a trade off.

Because I suspect it is largely just software to add video capabilities. So why not offer it as a feature. If you don’t need a capability then ignore it...simple.

I wonder why they don't focus on one or the other. I never use video, and some probably never use still. Perhaps if manufacturers concentrated on one of the two functions they could develop better products. I appreciate any input you may offer.

Understanding hyper focal distance may help you achieve the depth of field that you are seeking with using very small aperture settings.

Arthur Morris has some videos on YouTube about using Extenders with Canon lenses. They are worth watching. Steve Perry has some videos about using Nikon TCs on YouTube also. Neither of these will address your lens. You will want to maintain autofocus unless you are shooting stationary objects. That will limit how much TC you can use with your already slow lens.

I use a 2x Extender with my Canon 70-200 f/2.8 II and largely get results that satisfy.
But I am also using it on a 1Dx mkII body which has excellent autofocus system and high iso capabilities.

My advice would be to watch the videos and rent or borrow a 1.4TC to do your own testing.

We just had two cases of wine delivered by FedEx yesterday. I sat around waiting until 2:30 for them to show up because my wife said they had to be signed for at delivery. So, I hear the truck outside and go out and the driver is setting the second one on the porch. Then said I don’t need to sign because the driver will sign for me....Great...

But the best is Amazon always throwing packages on my neighbors porch and taking a cell photo of it... like that would prove delivery... the driver or anyone else could pick it up 30 seconds later too...

Now I see them advertising these package boxes that bolt to your porch for delivery to be put into...geesh.

Definitely a FedEx problem. Ordered a lens had to sign for it when delivered no big deal but received a text from FedEx saying it was delivered and my wife signed for it. Package was sitting on front porch and my wife or I had not signed anything. No doorbell rang or knock just no left on porch.
