Every night before I go to sleep, I read a couple of dozen comic strips from the Washington Post on my Kindle. "Zippy" is an odd one, but it's written my a man who was born in Brooklyn and then moved to Long Island, just like me, so I feel an affinity toward him.

In last yesterday's strip, he mentioned his great grandfather, who was a photographer. He was born in 1843, so you can imagine what photography was like back then. I looked for his name online, and quite a bit turned up.

Photography equipment companies make many different camera bodies but many more different lenses. So far the camera cos. are not agreeing with the folks answering your survey. Canon realizes the value of the camera is more critical than the lens and build their cameras accordingly. When I am carrying my 1 DX I am actually carrying three different cameras. Whatever lens I chose places its characteristics on each of those cameras, not vice versa. Your survey helps explain why most people do not understand the concept of "upgrade" when camera bodies are the subject. Features of cameras are far more critical to the image captured than are the features of lenses.
