Look up Ken Rockwell’s review on the Tokina 11-17mm 2.8 vs the Nikon 12-24, Tokina better but cheaper.

Might you be referring to the 11-16mm Tokina?

Yep... might have been a typo he made; 6 is next to 7...

As a retired book editor, I am enraged by these thefts. And the man was supposed to be an archivist, the custodian of these rare works. It's a cryin' shame.

I'm wondering why the Tokina 11-16 2.8 wasn't mentioned. It's a DX lens, which makes it nearly perfect for your Canon. While it does have distortion (an issue with pretty much every ultrawide), that's correctable to a large extent with post processing. With this lens, the maximum aperture will give you a brighter view, and that will make the actual shooting easier.

Of course, I recommend looking for a used one. New, I think they're a tad over $500.

Indeed. The Minolta series of 85mm manual-focus lenses are also renowned.

I still shoot film exclusively and do no post processing. But how others make their images is up to them.

The camera makers have done some testing and found that the temperature difference internally isn't that great, unless you intentionally leave the lens out in the sun. Even a white lens (one with a high albedo) will overheat.

The best answer is to use a cooler (without the ice) and take along a white towel to drape over the lens/camera combo.

I used to live in Phoenix, and that's how I handled it. Oh, yeah, never stow your photo gear in your trunk without some kind of thermal protection.

The book may be Trump's, but he didn't write it.

The point may be moot by tomorrow. There will be a vote on it, and it will pass. Children will stay with their parents.

Post processing has always been a part of photography. I don't believe that Life magazine used photos as developed at the drug store. PP is just one element to making a finished product.

If this thread is indicative of what the United States of America is today, and I think it is, we have lost our purpose. There is no empathy, no regard for human rights.
We are solely blessed; and screw everyone who is less fortunate.
That attitude is not what made this country great; and is not what will ensure a good life for our Grandkids.
This is ugly.
"There but by fortune, go you and I".

I support your view. Where is the American soul? Does it even still exist, or has it been co-opted by home-grown oligarchs... I can't even find the will to put a question mark to that last sentence.
