The file you transfer to the camera's memory card should have a bin extension; i.e. v3update.bin. The file you downloaded is a disk image; it has to be mounted and opened (click or double click on it) to reveal the bin file. Copy that to the root directory of your camera's memory card. Follow the camer'a instructions for loading a firmware update.

Calling them traitors is a little overboard when you consider that in 1860 the United States was a very loose union of states and loyalties were with the states rather than the union. Many chose state loyalty over union loyalty. That did not make them traitors.
