Maybe, Maybe not. My experience with the company tends to be positive. If you check some of their marketing, they claim to be photographers looking out for the interests of photographers. My experience with the company has shown that. Very speedy customer support, etc. etc etc. As for Flickr, I too will be watching with interest. Maybe not on the same scale, but I compare this to the Adobe and LightRoom experience. I hope not....

I have been with SmugMug since December 2006. I like the ulimited storage model offered. Prime reason I went with them. Are they perfect? Nope. As a pro business account holder, I pay a slightly reduced annual fee, because I am grandfathered from the legacy Smug. I appreciate the control I have over my site. As little or as much as I want. I have learned a great deal about design and code because of my web page. Like life, your return is equal to the effort applied. There are things I do not appreciate about SmugMug, but they are minimal in my opinion.

Perhaps you might consider privacy issues. In a public setting there should not be an expectation of privacy. To demand you cease photography in a public location where you are not commiting any crime for access, those who ask you to discontinue photography are violating YOUR 1st amendment rights. Private property NOT SO MUCH. Especially if a fee is required to enter....

Take off any "protective" filters and do a focus test ......with BOTH bodies.

The FIRST you should do with any new lens.

..

Is it possible you are using AI Servo vs One Shot AF?

Not true you can edit the jpeg

True.....however many would attempt to over process a JPEG image.....

and for the non-photographically oriented or knowledgeable (many of the world's population) this is a simplified way for them to them understand a basic difference between RAW and JPEG

This is rather fundamental, I know, but I'm still in the learning stages so bear with me...

When you talk about a RAW image vs a JPEG image, what exactly does that mean?

Is it better to shoot in RAW?

What are the advantages or disadvantages of both?

Thank you!!!

I have found it easier to explain in this manner: Camera RAW is equivalent to film. It requires processing and printing to view. JPEG is equivalent to a Polaroid Instant print. What you see is what you get.

How many shots? Roughly 800 - 1200 a day of the flying activities and there are also shots to be had traveling to and from our destinations. Editing in camera on site does not appeal to me, I believe I might spend time "quick editing" and miss an opportunity for the once in a life time shot....Just me....

Duly noted. There are many considerations, the biggest is cost and expenses. Not only do I need additional media, there are costs and expenses I must consider also. Overnight accommodations, meals, fuel and on and on.. The least cost effective measure at this time is additional CF media. I am thinking 4 32GB flash cards. That is simple enough.

Thank you for all of your suggestions! The first reply indicating multiple CF cards makes sense. When air show shooting I use 32GB San Disk CF cards. A couple more won't hurt....I will most likely purchase additional cards and wait till we get home.....Thank You.....Tom

I travel with my daughter to airshows and return home to process images collected from the shows we attend. Having decided to slooooow down and not kill her and myself this years adventures will keep us away from home for longer periods of time. I do not have a laptop or a tablet. I do have an android but wish to refrain running images through it to upload to a storage platform. I am merely looking at transferring images from my CF cards at the end of the day and reformatting cards for use the next day. Recently I observed some suggestions for methods of image transfer, but I would have some difficulty locating that thread. I am asking for suggestions to accomplish my task while out on adventure. Thank you for your advice......

Which part are you looking for? Here is a link to a cord I use to connect the shutter trigger on the Bushhawk and the camera : https://www.amazon.com/RC-611-Remote-Terminal-Miniphone-Coiled/dp/B003TJQ83C The cord comes from Asia and takes some time to arrive. I have used it and it works perfectly.

Yes I will. I had the opportunity to use it it yesterday (Sat May 20 at Illinois Valley Airport in Peru Illinois) and quickly settled into a comfortablw image capturing routine. I actually am very comfortable using the Bushhawk now as opposed to first purchasing and attempting to use it. More photographt today (Sunday) and I then have time to break it down.....Tom

Thank You. I will keep my eyes and ears open. A situation as this, I prefer to have some "backup" parts and supplies on hand. It would appear that my modifications just might worth the effort. After engineering my "HawK", I feel confident it will work. Now for an aviation event to capture.
