I am doing a little market research - which photo sharing sites do you use and what success have you had in promoting your photography?
I ask in the wake of Flickr being purchased by SmugMug and I need to make a decision whether or not to delete my Flickr account.
I use the Flickr site to share galleries of my photos. I link to Flickr from my website and direct potential clients to the Flickr galleries as samples of my work.
What do others use to promote their work? And is there a better site....Instagram, SmugMug, 500 Pixels, Photobucket, iCloud, My portfolio, others???
Price and capacity are considerations, but effectiveness is primary objective. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I don't have an answer but am replying because I am curious myself.
I use Zenfolio. The pricing is very reasonable. I use it to display photos for my family but many pros use it for business too. I believe you can go to Zenfolio.com to see some examples...

Well I hope we both get some great feedback!!
I'm on Fine Art America and have experienced a modicum of success. I also use PhotoReflect. I don't sell off it, but use it to show a large number of images from any particular trip or event. One of the things I like about PhotoReflect is their lab. They do really nice work and have some products I don't find elsewhere. If I'm actually giving people images, I usually use Google Drive with exclusive coding (meaning they're supposed to have the code before they can open that album). Those are downloadable. I found out this last time that there's a limit to the number of images one can put into one album. That was a surprise.
I like flickr, and don't see any reason to go from it just because smugmug bought them. If it changes for the worse then we'll see.

I would like to avoid moving because of the work involved.
But I want to be prepared if things go sideways.
Thanks
After an unpleasant experience with Photobucket I switched to IMGUR and have been very happy with their service. It is free, easy to navigate, and beats the old Photobucket, hands down.

Great feedback, thank you
I use Smugmug Pro for $250 year but you can get basic for $3.99 a month. There are plenty of other package options available also. I use it to sell and they use some of the best labs in the business. I opt for Bay Photo but there are others to choose from. You can set your own pricing also and keep 85% of your mark up.

Thanks - I wonder if the free service available from Flickr will still be offered now that SmugMug has acquired it and if any of the features in SmugMug will be available in a free, former Flickr account.
Work watching.

Please note the Watch link exists for this purpose.

I use both Flickr and 500px. The quality of photography at 500px is higher, but I've been disappointed on the limited size of images you can share from their site (link) to elsewhere. The two sites have different purposes and different photographers, although there's a lot of overlap between the two with many people posting the same images to both. They would have to significantly increase the price or drastically change the purpose of the site for me to move off of Flickr. Although people have found images on both sites and contacted me to purchase for stock usage, I use them for sharing rather than selling which probably reflects me assessment vs other sites you've mentioned. $250 vs what I now pay $50/yr for Flickr-Pro would have me immediately looking elsewhere.
